Just wanted to officially say hello and introduce myself! Just found this site by accident via Pinterest and am so happy I did!

I'm very interested in so many of the topics I see in the forums! And I love the tolerant vibe - so often online forums get really combative. There are exceptions of course and it looks like this is one.

We (DH and DS and I) live on a small piece of land out in the county right in the middle of an old overgrown tree nursery with a creek out back. Our dream is to have an alpaca farm in Montana - but that is for another day!

I'm mid-thirties - obsessed with all things to do with gardening, cooking, baking, canning, preserving, crafting and so on. I am a voracious reader, prefer hand sewing to machine because I can never figure them out, love embroidery and paper crafting (i.e. using my Cricut!). I'm also one of those people who thinks about/prepares for Christmas year round.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Hi there! So glad to have you join us. Your place sounds beautiful! I live in the country on a mostly wooded place, all by myself - well, along with 8 homeless fur babies I've adopted over the years - and am usually overwhelmed. I'm an author and getting ready for the publication of my first book (middle-grade historical novel). I also prefer hand sewing, I think maybe it's sort of therapeutic. Most of the time when I drop by it's on 'the porch,' Hope you'll pop in there sometime so I can keep up with how you're doing.

Hi Jamie and welcome here at our "Farm"! I know you will find lots of people who love the same things you do too. I live here in Florida and also love crafting, baking , knitting and other hand work. What kind of trees are in your nursery?

Thanks, TexasWildFlower! Good luck on your book! Historical novels are one of my favorite genres!

We have two fur-babies of our own - one boy and one girl - both getting so old now :( 15+ and counting!

Red Tractor Girl - Although we don't own the nursery, our property sits smack dab in the middle. The former owner that founded it back in the 40s sold a swath of land that cut the nursery in two.

Things are really overgrown in there, but our yard is surrounded by red bud (I think?) trees that bloom a lovely purple in spring. There are holly bushes, tulip trees, masses of forsythia, hyacinths and snowball bushes just to name a few.

Hi, Jamie! Welcome from Iowa! We certainly have a lot of the same interests. Yes, I agree that hand sewing is relaxing. I'm just teaching myself to use my sewing machine. Your country sounds lovely.
