Hi All,

I've been training to be a Master Gardener this past year, and part of our graduation is volunteering 30 hours in the community. I've spent my time at a display garden that donates our harvests to community pantries for the needy. We all have learned so much from each other and the garden is amazing. We recently had a party to celebrate the year and to meet everyone's families. One of the ladies had special ordered seeds of the "cuccuzzi gourd", also known as the "edible gourd". It grow up to to three feet long! Anyway, there were three dishes made using this gourd. They were delicious! I want to grow them next year in my garden, but will have to figure out where and how since they are so huge! This is a seed originally from Sicily.

Anyone else grow them?

Farmgirl Hugs,
Nicole

Were you lucky enough to save some seed from one of the gourds? It sounds really interesting.

Hi Kem,

Since it is a community garden, I believe the seeds will go straight back to the garden, though sometimes we have been gifted some of the overflow of produce, seeds, etc. My friend ordered them online and I have found them by googling the gourd; not all seed companies have them as it is from Italy (Sicily to be exact). I am going to put them in my garden journal and order them next year.

Farmgirl Hugs,
Nicole
