If you have not read the post under Farm Kitchen, today starts the official Farmgirl Apple Festival here at MJF for the month of September. We have lots of fun things planned and I hope you will join in and enjoy.

This swap is specific to our Farmgirl Apple Pie Sunday that will be a new tradition here for us at the farm. This year, it will be on Sunday September 27, 2015. Each swap will contain your favorite apple pie recipe written on a recipe card. If you wish to add any extra apple themed tuck-ins, that would be fine. We will end the swap early enough so you can get your swap to your buddy in case they want to make your apple pie recipe for our big day.

Sign up today through September 1-Septmebr 10.

Partners post September 11

Mailout no later than September 19.

Let's get started on the best September Apple fun ever at MJF!

Good Morning everyone and here are the partners for the AppleSwap:

You know I'm in! Apple pie is one of my family's favorites (that and cherry pie). We're going to have our own little family apple pie festival the last weekend in September, on the 27th specifically, Sunday specially. Thank you Winnie for such a great idea.

I'm joining in and will have to be a bit inventive. We will be on the road from Illinois on Sept 27th, so will have to stop along the way, hopefully at an out-of-the-way hometown restaurant with homemade apple pie on the menu.

I'm being slow.... and am posting again for clarification... We are sending our favorite apple pie recipe and any tucks we deem appropriate, to one partner? Or everyone who signs up?

Shannon, that is a good question! This swap is for only one partner each. So you will do one card and a few extras as able for your swap buddy.

With so many other fun swaps on the docket, i want to keep this simple so more people can join in the fun.

Glad to see so many of you signing up! I just know there are some pretty awesome recipes that are going to be shared!!

This swap has me very excited. I love apples and am thinking about what tuck(s) to include. :-) I have my mother's huge recipe file box so decided to look for apple pie recipes - and I found SIX!! They all sound so yummy and one has a very interesting crust. Hmmmmmmmm - how to decide which one to send? Should I just send my swap partner all of them.

And in regard to the Farmgirl Merit badge: While looking in another section of the recipe file I found a very handy "Apple Usage Chart - Use this chart as your guide to characteristics and usage for different varieties of apples." Very interesting, and it will help provide me with needed info for the Beginner section of the merit badge. I also have a food dehydrator that I've not used yet, so I can also start working on the Intermediate section of the badge.

I love looking through this recipe box. It always brings back memories of meals Mom made us and new recipes that I want to try.

Wow, Linda, what a treasure trove you have in your mom's recipe box!! it all sounds very fun and interesting too. It sounds like you are getting lots of help on doing the requirements for the Apple Badge as well. Dried apple slices are so useful for so many things.

Stephanie,
"Tucks" are anything you WANT to include, such a tea, doily, hankie, notecards, candy, soaps, etc., etc. They are fun, nice extras but NOT required . . only if you WANT! I've hosted many swaps and try to remember to tell swappers that "tucks" are NOT required.
Hope that helps!

So right, CJ - tucks are never required. They are just a little added something for your farmgirl partner.

I have a wild apple tree in my yard. I've always canned apple pie filling. I now have to search for a regular apple pie recipe. Still checking and will just have to bake a few just to test for the "best one!" Oh darn....
I hope Winnie will share her coffee recipes with us! Would love to have some.

Wish I had an apple tree. I've tried to plant fruit trees (pear, peach and apple) and they never took.
