Here's a little Apple info for everyone:

Apple Equivalents:
1 large apple = 2 cups sliced or chopped = 1 1/2 cups finely chopped =1 1/4 cups grated = 3/4 cup sauce.
1 medium apple = 1 1/3 cups sliced or chopped = 1 cup finely chopped = 3/4 cup grated = 1/2 cup sauce.
1 small apple = 3/4 cup sliced or chopped = 3/4 cup finely chopped = 1/2 cup grated = 1/3 cup sauce.
1 pound apples = 4 small apples or 3 medium apples or about 2 large apples
1 (9" or 10") pie = 2-1/2 pounds (4 to 5 large or 6 to 7 medium or 8 to 9 small apples)
Peck = 10-1/2 pounds
Bushel = 42 pounds (yields 20-24 quarts of applesauce)

Funny how if you google History of Apples the first items you get are about the history of Apple Computer. A sign of our times?

I would love to play, made a new Apple recipe last night. Streusel topped caramel apple pie. It is so good! Thanks for the Apple info Linda, that is handy to know.

Sounds yummy Julie!!!

Is there a specific size recipe card that we should do? I usually do 3x5, but can certainly do 4x6 or whatever is preferable... Wanted to check before I start embellishing it :)

Good question, Shannon. CeeJay's recipe and recipe holder swap specifies 3x5" but this one doesn't. Maybe it doesn't matter?

WOO HOO!!! I scored apple items for my kitchen and apron today. At the flea market, I found an apple and strawberry tablecloth I will use for an apron. At a thrift store I found an apple box with handle and cutout apples on 2 sides; a wooden painted apple cutout; a wooden plaque with an apple, a crock/lid, and "This Kitchen seasoned with Love" on it; and a 40" long x 5-1/2" wide bell-pull-like tapestry with apples on it.

Here is just 1/4 of the tablecloth. I can make one quarter into a very easy apron.

Here are the other apple things I found

Hi Winnie! I have been wanting to try one of the swaps but the really crafty and heirloom recipe ones kind of intimidate me. I do pretty well with livestock and farm chores but I haven't quite mastered the crafty and cooking aspects of being a Farmgirl. Maybe I didn't get those genes but I'm working on it! I do have a decent apple pie recipe so I think I'll give this one a try as my first swap. Count me in! Is this all I need to do to sign up or do you need anything else from me?

Here's my first Apple apron. It is a very simple apron using a vintage tablecloth. It is bordered in strawberries and has apples prominent in the fruit basket plus other fruits. Hmmmmm - An apple and strawberry pie sounds interesting.

If I want, I could make 3 more like this out of the same tablecloth. Or I can make aprons that are a little different.

Yeah, I could Linda. Have made many aprons from tablecloths. I just don't have a tablecloth to use right now! Maybe someday!
