I love that black fence. I have been toying with the idea of painting my chain-link fence black. I want to do it even more now after seeing this picture.

Connie you post some of the best pictures. It makes me long for those days when we had to rake leaves. I really miss fall. I am really looking forward to leaving Florida for a colder climate that has the different seasons once again.

May the stars carry your sadness away. May the flowers fill your heart with beauty, and may hope forever wipe away your tears.

Love the tree and the black fence. Looks like something you'd see around here in October. I am decorating my autumn ladder. Yes, an old ladder. I decorated it for Christmas last year in place of a tree. Now it stands ready to be decorated for fall. My favorite season.

Cindy,
I'll bet your ladder makes a great decorating piece! I only have metal orchard ladders, but if I had one of the old wooden ones from our family farm/orchard I'd be using it!

Loving all these Fall photos! Yes, Rebecca, I completely understand where you are coming from. I grew up in Virginia and Fall was always a beautiful time. I miss the raking of leaves and the whole fall season. My solution has been to make sure I get to the mountains every year during Fall and take it all in!!

Loving this thread! I am SO ready for Fall! I haven't done any decorating yet other than our front door - put together a new Fall wreath using garage sale finds and things I already had:

Jamie, your wreath looks great for Fall!! I love what you put together with what you already had on hand. Even if the weather is hot, we know that soon September is going to bring cooler days and the leaves will change. Ahhhhhh, just thinking about it makes me smile!!

Love all these photos today! I had time today to fix my front door decoration, decorate my back porch for Fall, and got a few things out for the kitchen before it was time to stop and get dinner going. Then, I tried my hand at making baked beans from scratch and they turned out really delicious. We were both pleasantly surprised at how good they were. The first half of the day was hot and humid, but then we got a brief shower and after that , it stayed in the upper 70s, cloudy, with a light breeze which make it nice to sit outside on the porch for a change. It felt fall like for a change although tomorrow will be back up to 90 until it rains again!

This afternoon, I drug out the box of Fall decorations and put them out while it was humid, hot, then thunder and rain, then steam and hot! LOL!! Was I crazy/?Probably. What was I thinking? I am OVER this hot nasty weather! Here is my family room with the fireplace mantle full of pumpkin things and my faux fire in the fireplace. I posted a photo of the faux fire last year and this is what I do. Since it stays too hot here for a real fire until about Christmas or most likely January, I put real fire wood and pinecones inside and then arrange these flame lights to look like little fire flames of a real fire. The whole idea I saw up in a store in NC where they just used a mantle and built out this faux fire to look like a real one. It was a chilly Fall day and I was amazed at how much ambience this set-up provides. When I found these flame lights a few years ago at Big Lots during Halloween season, I knew I had to try it out in my own house. It really does look kinda cool and gives the room that warm cozy feeling!

Did anyone drag out their decorations or plan to tomorrow?

I love checking this thread out daily. The pictures are so fall-ish. I love them all. I haven't decorated yet. I'll try to post a picture when I do.
Thanks.

LOVE your mantel and fireplace arrangement, Winnie! So clever! I was putting Fall decor out yesterday and it was in the 90s here! But temps are dropping all week long, so I just went ahead and got started. I needed to take advantage of the fact that the 10 ft ladder was already in the living room for other jobs DH was working on - we have a 16 foot long plant shelf I need that ladder to get up to. SO decorate I did!!! Was too tired to enjoy it or take a picture last night - but I will do both soon! :)

Jaime, the thought of me climbing onto a 10" ladder sends shivers up & down my spine. On this one you are definitively the better FarmGirl.

I made a garden flag for MJF Apple Festival and put it next to my front steps. The orange & green colors were just what I needed to lead the way to sunflower wreath on front door. I like it when one thing I do adds to something I have already done. It also helps that my favorite colors are fall colors.

Jaime and Sara, your decorating sounds so fun! I love it too when one color idea supports something already in place!! That is when you feel all coordinated and happily surprised!

Finished two Fall swags and hung on the double doors in our living room last night!

Here is a shot of both doors and shelf when standing back a ways - sorry it's a little fuzzy!
