Hello,
I'm new on the Farmgirl site. For starters my husband & I have 3 horses, 2 roosters & 4 chickens, 2 cats, a dog and a hermit crab (which was a Christmas present to my youngest daughter) 3 yrs ago. I enjoy crafting when I have the time, currently my husband and I are still working on our newest project 3 years and running, converting an old dairy barn into our home/stables. That's enough for now, Look forward to chatting with all you.

The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man.

Hi Mel,

Glad to meet you. Converting a barn to a house sounds great, but a lot of work too.

Hi Mel! Yes, a big welcome. Anyone who can keep a hermit crab alive for three years is a very nurturing woman

Hi Mel from another New Yorker!! I live in Western New York. Welcome and have fun! I adore the homes people have made out of barns. There are a few around here! I am sure we would all love to see pictures if thats possible!

Hi Mel Welcome from the Pocono's. You have to post the pictures of your progress of your house and of course the final one, that sounds so cool. Are you going to have cows too since it was a dairy farm. I just joined this site and love it and I know you will too. Everyone one here seem so down to earth.

Thanks for the many welcomes! I would be happy to send pictures of our new house/stables. Just have to figure out how :) Some of you ask what part of New York; Northern part near Ft. Drum. My husband and I traveled with the military for over 20 yrs. He is originally from Liverpool and I'm originally from a very quaint little burg called Wellsboro, PA. We (royal we; meaning me) asked to be located here while in the service (that was 14 yrs ago) I just couldn't do without the 4 seasons and we are happy as bugs in a rug. Look forward to meeting you all through this chat... ttyal

Welcome, Mel!

I, too, am from NY...and was in the military! Only 4 years, though! Anyway, it's nice to see another fellow New Yorker!
