I have wanted to get a wooden ironing board forever! I really wanted one after first becoming a farmgirl and seeing one pictured in MJ's book. I was so disappointed when I couldn't find one anywhere...not even new.
Today on a facebook tag sale someone posted an antique wooden ironing board. I snagged it. She only wanted $5 for it! It was her mother's and she didn't want it, and it is mint! Looks like no one ever used it. It's solid and heavy, but not too heavy that I can't move it. I can't stand those flimsy metal ones, and the small tabletop one I have on my counter in my laundry room sometimes is too small. I thought it looked cute standing up against the wall when I am not using it.
Oh, the things I can do with it! Inside and outside!
Don't you love when you find something like that?

Nicole, I know you will enjoy your wooden ironing board as much as I like mine. I bought it over thirty years ago at an estate sale for $3. It's about the same size of yours and stays up in my closet where I do most of my ironing.
By the way I really like your laundry room, and your ironing board looks neat against the wall. A little touch of vintage adds so much to a modern room.

Hi Sara,
Thanks! I think wooden ironing boards are one of those things that prove "they don't make things as good as they used to"...
Thanks for the compliment. I would love to pull up the older than dirt flooring, but I like the room. My mother in law gave me the print on the wall when my daughter was a baby. A little vintage makes everything awesome!

Nicole, I found a wonderful wooden ironing board a few years ago in an antique store in Moultrie Georgia. What a find!! Like you , I had wanted one since the first time I read MaryJanes Idea book. I covered mine with a small vintage tablecloth and enjoy using it every week for a few items that I still iron. Love how your new laundry day find looks in your workroom! Enjoy using it and passing it along to your daughter one day!!

They are treasures. I have two. They came from my grandmother's home. One was homemade and the other bought. Originally I thought of painting a country scene on one,( popular when I brought them home), but just could not make myself do it.

Well great -- now that's another thing I have to be on the lookout for! ha ha ha I think they are wonderful, and I love to iron. Surely I can find one around Chester County, PA.

I have also been looking for a wooden ironing board. I am a quilter, and we iron all the time. I've seen a few in antique shops but they were so rickety that I didn't think they would hold up to use. I have confidence I will find one soon.

WOW! That's a great price. Wish I lived closer, too. I know I will find one. We are going to west Texas today. Maybe I will find one in an out-of-the-way shrift or antique shop. LOL!

I scored a wooden ironing board yesterday at a small antique/resale store. Unfortunately, mine was $20 - not like the prices you gals in the northeast can find. I had seen 2 earlier and they wanted $40 each and I offered $20 and they wouldn't take it. The one I got is in great shape.

Hey Linda,
$20 is still pretty good - I've seen them for way, way higher. Enjoy!

I agree, Nicole. I looked on craigslist and they were $50-70. I thought $20 was pretty good, and it is in great shape.
