I took a pine needle basket weaving class today. I am obsessive compulsive when it comes to finishing craft project. I started this at 10 this morning had lunch, work till 3 at the class, came home and worked on it till it was done. The next one will have more color, beads, or something to make it more colorful. I still like it though.

WOW! That is SO cool, Kem! I didn't know you could do that with pine needles?! It's just lovely! Great job! Kudos to you! Hugs - Nini

Kem , this basket is beautiful! What a great job you did. I actually love the natural brown colors you get with pine needles. It seems like part of their charm as a basket material. Congratulations on your first pine weaving project. Keep us posted on your next experiment!

We have a professional crafter that makes a living crafting with her husband and they do the circuit of craft shows, black powder shoots, etc. She agreed to teach the class at our local library. She is also going to do crocheted rag rug, calligraphy and wool hooked rugs. This lady is extremely talented. We are so lucky to have her. The class was free and the supplies were $10. I bet there may be a youtube video for instructions. It was not hard at all. The hardest part was getting a round bottom and starting up the sides. There was a lady there that brought her own pine needles and they were green. She used green twine to wrap the basket and it turned out wonderful. She said you can use any length of pine needles but hers were from her home state Washington, and they were probably 8-9 inches long. In Ks ours are only 5-7 inches long, but they work, just have to add them more frequently.

Your basket is just great! I have made them too and they're fun but mine are much smaller. I'm impressed. Keep up the good work.

Very cool, Kem! Love that! I would love to learn how to do that myself. Great job, and your first project to boot. Way to go.
