Welcome, Joyce! I have lots of aprons, too. Many I've made and some from swaps I've participated in. I love finding vintage ones at antique shops - though I haven't figured out where/how to display them all. LOL!

I just thought of something. Why doesn't everyone put a small LABEL on their apron with your name, city/state, date. This way we will always know who made the wonderful apron we are wearing. What do you think?

Here are pictures of some of the aprons I have made. They are for sale, if anyone is interested. LOL! Recycled BlueJeans on top Blue/white print and Men at work. Others available.
Reversible wrap apron - this one has kitchen implements on reverse. Have 3 others: patriotic angels/international kids prints, cowboys/broco riders, Cowgirls/Vintage sayings. These all have 2 large pockets on each side.
Made from Souvenir Towel - SCOTLAND IS SOLD But I still have 4 England, 1 Germany, 1 Sicily, 1 Italy
Recycled Jeans on top - yes, I found purple!
"French Country" 2-pocket apron - sash makes large bow in back. License plate print with coordinating stripe. Also in teal/brown print and oriental/coordinating fabrics.
Just some ideas!

I have set up at the festivals - fall and spring. I find it strange that a LOT of people do not wear aprons at all. My grandmothers were never without an apron on if they were around the house. LOL!

Gearing up for spring, I'm starting the list for a spring Apron Swap. I'd like for these to be hand-made aprons, so if you do not sew from scratch, email me and we can come up with a simple idea that will work for you! You can always email me; I have lots of ideas and patterns for aprons.
There are lots of ideas and patterns on Pinterest and on the Internet. I know Mary Janes Farm magazine and books also have patterns. I have a reversible apron that I just LOVE making and wearing. I also make recycled jeans aprons, using the tops-with-pockets of old jeans and adding fun and colorful skirts.
And Here's a link to the Mary Janes Farm Clothespin Apron pattern. The link and picture of the apron was in the newest Feb-Mar issue of Mary Janes Farm magazine. Very easy and useful for clothespins, gardening, or whatever you need apron pockets for. http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Recipes-Patterns-Instructions/clothespin_apron.pdf

Since I posted on the Clothespin Bag Swap I thought I would also post four poems about aprons that I've found on the Internet over the years. ENJOY! And see if they bring back memories of your grandmothers.
Grandma's Apron by Tina Trivett The strings were tied, It was freshly washed, and maybe even pressed. For Grandma, it was everyday to choose one when she dressed. The simple apron that it was, you would never think about; the things she used it for, that made it look worn out. She may have used it to hold, some wildflowers that she'd found. Or to hide a crying child's face, when a stranger came around. Imagine all the little tears that were wiped with just that cloth. Or it became a potholder to serve some chicken broth. She probably carried kindling to stoke the kitchen fire. To hold a load of laundry, or to wipe the clothesline wire. When canning all her vegetables, it was used to wipe her brow. You never know, she might have used it to shoo flies from the cow. She might have carried eggs in from the chicken coop outside. Whatever chore she used it for, she did them all with pride. When Grandma went to heaven, God said she now could rest. I'm sure the apron that she chose, was her Sunday best. I miss you Grandma...
Grandma's Apron by C J Heck Gramma's gone, but not forgotten, that's her apron hanging there. It still hangs in Grampa's kitchen. Sometimes he looks at it and stares. When Gramma wore her apron it was magical to see. The pockets held such treasures for the grandkids just like me. Saw it shine up Grampa's fender once just as pretty as you please, and it wiped my brother's cheek off one time when he sneezed. It took cookies from the oven, it rushed to wipe a tear, got a grain of sand out of your eye, made a lap for the stories we'd hear. It wiped spills up from the counter top when she was baking pies, a symbol of her love and care and it showed, too, in her eyes. Sometimes I'm sad to look at it when I see my Grampa stare. Gramma's gone, but not forgotten. That's her apron hanging there.
Inspired by a Email from Granny rose My grandma wore an apron To protect the dress she wore But her uses for that apron I'm sure she had a score It was used for drying children's tears And cleaning ears and such And shy kids hid behind it When relations fussed too much And then when it turned cold outside It wrapped grandmothers arms And called grandfather from the field To a meal so nice and warm And it made a special kind of sling To carry apples sweet And peas and carrots and green beans Good Stuff for us to eat It was used to wipe the furniture When company did drop by And it carried chips and kindling Or battled bottle flies It carried eggs or little chicks Or baby cats or dogs And one fine day down at the pond She caught some golliwogs And I remember very well When my grandma had died Somebody took her apron And cast it to one side But tell me please in case you know When do you think there'll be Something that gets used as much As that apron used to be
MY GRANDMOTHER'S MAGIC APRON" by Mary Carter Mizrany© March 27, 2006 To some it's just an apron old garment of no worth . . . but the memories it holds for me are the dearest ones on earth ~
Grandmother wore it often for lots of things she did . . . seemed like a bit 'O magic when I was just a kid ~
I'd see her in the chicken coop as chicken feed she'd throw . . . how she made that apron like a sack I tell you I don't know ~
Why it held eggs she'd gather the hens laid every day . . . "I just can't cook without it" I'd hear grandmother say ~
If company was acomin' she dusted with it, too . . . dried at least a thousand teardrops 'n snot when, she, our noses blew ~
Into the garden there she'd go with apron held out wide . . . soon peas 'n corn 'n beans 'n taters were carried on inside ~
We'd sit awhile upon the porch a mess of beans we'd clean . . . string 'em first ~ then snap 'em awwwww~ you know what I mean ~
For the always hungry old~fashion'd stove she'd tote kindlin from the shed . . . "My apron sure comes in handy" so worn out her face all red ~
So much love 'n comfort ~ tenderness given to us for so many years . . . just can't think about those precious times without my eyes filling up with tears ~
To some just a worn~out piece of cloth but, oh my, not so to me . . . My Grandmother's Magic Apron like her, lives forever in my memory !
