I am a Mid~Century modern kinda gal... when I am not a country gal...lol!
I pulled out a couple of old LP's and played them today..

just the process of loading the album, was a trip down memory lane.
The albums may not have the clarity of today's modern sound systems,, but it was comforting.
I also have 2 portable record players, that both work as well. And 4 racks of 1950-60's LP... I also have a box, still unpacked of LP's from the 1970's to late '80's.
Hmmm, maybe I'll listen to music more often...

Thanks for the memories, Grace. I'm a Mid-Century modern country kinda gal too who was a teenager in the 1950s. Never heard the term Mid-Century before but I like it. Enjoy your music and I'll remember Dick Clark & American Bandstand as I turn my collar up, which I still do, and dance around my kitchen. Those were the days.

You know, we were just talking about finding a turntable... I have an entire collection of my mother's 45's from when SHE was a kid (as well as a few of my own!), including a recording of her and a friend made at Rocky Point park in RI when they were young teens! SO cool! I would love to hear them again! When we were kids, we'd play those 45's over and over and make up all sorts of routines for them! How fun it would be to gift the 45's back to my Mom with a record player. She and my stepdad would go nuts for them!!! Thank you for the inspiration! Hugs - Nini

Oh Nini, we also bought (several years ago) a reproduction of a 'turn table' at the 'Restoration Hardware' store...
check them out on the internet, they are a chain of stores that make nice reproductions of vtg items as well as modern items...
I think we paid around $100 for the turn table aka record player...
But I still use the old HiFi and I have 2 vtg. portable record players,, like they kind we had as kids.

I hope you find a record player, what a great gift that would be for your folks.

I'm a Mid-Century Modern girl as well. I don't have an old record player anymore, but do have a lot of other Mid-Century Modern including some vintage jewelry Christmas trees.

GRACE!!!! I have that SAME 45 case in the attic somewhere!!! How about that?! And you're right, who doesn't love Burl Ives?! My grandfather had given me a couple of his 33 1/3 albums when I was little - they were some of my favorites! I loved the cover of the "Lollipop Tree" album! And who didn't love "Holly Jolly Christmas" and "Rudolph!" I had long forgotten... Thank you so much for bringing him up! Now I'm going to be singing his songs all day! What a voice - just loved him!

I'll definitely check out the "Restoration Hardware" store online - I had no idea they would have turntables! Whodathunkit?! Thank you!!!

Hugs -

ok, took a quick photo of mine..

I have seen them in Vintage shops,, but just could handle the prices ... $25 - $45 for these lovely ladies (in Washington) not sure what they sell for else where...

I have also seen some with 'false eyelashes' on them...
