I cannot believe my hubby a finally agreed to buy a solid 1954 pickup to restore. We need a bench seat, 3 hubcaps, front window and one side window. Motor needs over hauled but son and hubby are mechanics, so should not be too bda It is faded green and rust color. We are thinking about just having it power washed and clear coated instead of painting it. I love the patina of this truck. I also want to put a vintage looking hand painted sign on one of the doors that has a painting of our farm and farm name. I think that part will be down the road. If anyone has vintage hubcaps for a chevy that fit a 1946 to 1954 chevy truck I would be interested. I hope to sell our 27 foot 1990s camper and downsize to something I can pull with this truck. Would, love to do something unique that looks like it is as old as the truck. Wish I could find a gypsy wagon or boho look camper. I want to name this truck and am thinking about Gypsy Wagon, Savannah,or Jubilee. So much fu n to dream, it does not cost a thing.

Kem, your 1954 Chevy pickup bought back memories of growing up in the 1950s. That's when you could still tell a Ford from a Chevy from all sides.

Enjoy fixing up your new 'baby' and hope you find just the right trailer to tow behind.

Sara, I remember those pickups from my childhood too. I think that is why I want one. My grandpa and dad were farmers and always had pickups. Nothing smells like a farm pickup. Blends of tobacco, grease, dirt and who knows what else. Not all pleasant, but sure brings back memories.

Oh, Kem! That is AWESOME! I am SO excited for you. My husband restored a '49 Chevy truck when we got married - it was our getaway car! How we loved that truck - SO many wonderful memories! I pray you have even more wonderful memory-making moments in your pickup! Please post pictures as you go through the restoration process, if you can, so we can celebrate with you every step of the way! :) Hugs - Nini

I will post pics as we go along. My personal computer is down right now, so at the library. Once I get mine back I will post beginning picture and add as we go along. I would love to get this done before my granddaughter graduates so she could use it for prom or ???? She already wear the cowboy boots with her dresses. Live in a small town, but loves our farm and all that goes with it.

Ceejay, start looking, they are out there, but disappearing fast. Advice we were given was to buy a chevy because parts are easier to find. They can cross with GMC pickups of same years. I believe 1946 to 1954 will interchange.

When my hubby and I got married (in 1968) he had a 1956 Chevy 4-door station wagon, gray and white! Silly us, we used it as a trade in on a new car in 1970! We have been REGRETTING doing that many, many times!! :(

Hindsight is always better. I would love to have my 1965 mustang back. It was not a very pretty color, but it was mine.

Kem,,, Awesome!
We had a 1954 Chevy BelAir,,, but we sold it 1 1/2 yrs ago... as we really never used it much in Spokane,,, now that we are back in California, I kind of wish we had kept it. Oh well... 'hindsight'...
Have fun bringing your sweet truck back to life... I can see you towing a cute lil vtg. trailer with your '54...
