Hey everyone, for those of you who know Michele, aka batznthebelfry, she sends her greetings!! She asked me to let everyone know she really misses you and the MJ Farm!! At the moment, she does not have internet at her house, but thankfully, USPS is still delivering letters. Yay for snail mail!! If you wish to drop her a card, she would love to hear from you. You can email me for her address and Debbie Fischer also has it.
So, here is some of her report. As you know, she returned from her year of living off the grid last November, which is the beginning of the long Massachusetts winter. As soon as the weather improved in Spring, she added 3 more gardens to her original one and built her beloved chickens a new outdoor run with some donated supplies. The beginning of the Summer was very wet and cloudy and she lost some of her crops and had to replant. Now, however, she has been getting her tomatoes and of course an abundance of zucchini! I don't think zucchini mind what kind of weather is going on. As long as it doesn't freeze, it will grow enough to feed the world!! Michele said she had already frozen 28 cups of ground up zucchini for zucchini bread! Plus she is currently drying the rest to store for soups etc. She also grinds some of it up for chicken feed in the winter to provide her hens a bit of greens in their feed. I was fascinated to hear about all of her hens that she lovingly refers to as "the Kids!"
It was great to hear from Michele and all of her summer projects! She has been super busy but she says she loves being outside in her garden with her hens grazing about!

I'm glad Michele' and her "kids" are doing well. She leads such an interesting life, doesn't she? I admire anyone who can do their own thing and not care what others think. We're all going to die someday so you might as well live by your convictions, is my philosophy. even if lots of people don't understand us, there are those kindred souls who do. Hope she gets some internet soon, I miss hearing from her. Cindy
