I love to find bargains. It's fun to find something you need or really love, and when it's a bargain, it's even better! So, I thought it would be fun to post our "finds". It's always fun to "ooh" and "awe" with girlfriends over treasures and bargains!

I will start. This past week, I've picked up some good ones. When my mom visited last week, we went to the mall. I'm not a big mall person, but she loves to go and while we were there, I got a beautiful, multi-colored dress I can wear three to four seasons by changing shoes/accessories. The dress was $110 originally, but I got it for $27. Score!

Then I was looking for a new bunny cage for our bunny. Found one at Petco for $149. Bought the SAME one on my neighborhood online tag sale, like new for only $10. She also had for sale an outdoor hutch, like new, handmade from an Amish place for $40. Probably would have been several hundred dollars somewhere else, new. The lady's children didn't like their bunny so they gave it away after awhile. My bunny loves her new home! She's an indoor bunny, but on nice days she can also go in the big outdoor hutch for fresh air and exercise.

Then, I was in a local little shop with my mom last week and they were clearing out dvd's and blue rays. I have long wanted to show DD the old original 1970's Star Wars movies. They are impossible to find anywhere! We once had them on an old Laser Disc player in the early 90's, but that is long gone. Got the trilogy, on blue ray, all three on one disc for $2.50! Can't rent all three movies (if they were available to rent) for that! Score! Several friends have already asked to borrow them when I am done.

What's your bargain finds lately?

Farmgirl Hugs,
Nicole

I bargain hunt all the time. Mostly I get vintage patterns for next to nothing, much better than buying them online! One of the best bargains I had was about a year ago. I bought this wedding dress secondhand for.... $8. No kidding. The lady at the counter liked me so she just gave it to me for $8. I was very pleased with that. I knew I liked the dress bodice. It's been altered to fit whomever wore it, but I'm going to take it in the proper way and remove the skirt. The bottom of the dress will be replaced with a coloured tulle skirt. I'm going to make it into a ballgown dress. This isn't going to be my wedding dress. I also bought my wedding dress in a thrift store (formerly a floor model) for a whopping $60 - and it's gorgeous! This dress will be a kind of after party dress. We're eloping but we plan on having a special ceremony for our friends when we come back. :)

The top photo is the bodice of my dress, the bottom shows you the whole dress in white. My dress is a warm champagne colour!

It's a good thing I got my dress when I did. I've since returned to that thrift store and they now sell their wedding dresses at $100+.

Cheers~

I needed three trellises for my garden. They cost $100 each at the store or online sooooooooo.......

I saw a futon frame in the alley. I took it apart and used the frames for trellises. Total savings - $300+

That dress is beautiful! Oh my the bodice is stunning. What a steal!

And I love the trellis idea. Looks neat, too.

When I was nine, I got a boxed set of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. I wished I still have them. DD and I read "Little House in the Big Woods" last year together from the library, but have had a hard time finding the others. I didn't want to buy them, because the boxed sets are a bit pricey. Not available on the Nook. Sigh...

Found a mint condition, like-brand new boxed set exactly like the one I had...same year in fact! Looks like they never were opened. Was in a thrift store with a friend looking for antiques and found them on the bookshelf. Guess the price...after a 30% off coupon my friend had they were $1.79 for the whole thing!

Love to re-read them.

Nicole

My daughter wanted to recover a stool that went under a kitchen desk. We were shopping at a thrift store and I ran into a mans shirt that coordinated with her kitchen valance. Went to pay for it and it was half off the 3 bucks. So for a buck fifty, a can of black spray paint she had for the legs, and her staple gun we redid her stool. It turned out soooo cute. So fu to reclaim and redo items.

Post a pic, Cozynana! Would love to see the footstool!

I found a large antique, hobnail milk glass punch bowl with twelve cups. $17. Bargain!

As if I don't get in enough trouble on my own (wink wink), a friend of mine knows how much I have a "thang" for old milk cans. Well, she found one for me the other day at a Goodwill store. It's vintage, the real thing, with a lid. And it's huge. Bigger than the other (ahem) two I already have. The paint is a little flaky, so I will re do that. It will go on my porch, and the one that is there now will come inside and be used as an umbrella stand, which is what I was thinking when I bought it in the first place. My friend found the large one for $15! Pretty darn cheap for a vintage milk can and lid.

I have long been wanting a drying rack for clothes and hand washables. If you have an Aldi nearby, right now they have nice, several tiered, metal drying racks. They are fold up, but are heavy duty, really nice quality. White powder coated metal, too, not plastic. I saw one at Linens and Things advertised for $20, but never made it over. This one was at Aldi for only $9.99! It would be a nice thing for Glamping, too, as it takes no space folded.

Woo-hoo! I had just said the other day that I really needed to get a canner, since I do a lot of canning and seem to be doing more and more. Well, I found a black and white enamelware one for just $2 at the flea market. I've already used it a bunch!
