Yesterday I started my day by doing some Christmas shopping, had fun and the weather was so nice that I decided to weed out one of the flower beds that I am ashamed to say had been sorely neglected. After that dh came home with a cord of wood to unload and stack. Between the two of us we managed to get it done in good time. Unfortunately, since I am not used to being the one lifting and stacking the wood it has made these unused muscles sore. He came out of it with a swollen ankle where it had been hit when he was loading up the wood in the trailer. So today we are taking it easy. I think I need to look for the liniment!

Denise, after a busy day you & dh are doing the right thing - rest, comfort, and being kind to yourself. Won't that stacked wood be a blessing when the north wind blows this coming winter.
I find that I can only do a couple of extra things a week then I have to have a lot of peace & quiet.

Aw, Denise... I totally identify, sister! What happened to us? I still feel like a young girl on the inside, but dang, after a day of hard work, I feel like I've been hit by a Mac truck! LOL! I hope both of you bounce back quickly! Grandpa always used to say, "Everything in moderation...;" but this time of year, it's like the work is never ending! <Although we absolutely love it, don't we?! ;) > 'Hope the liniment helps! I've been sawing a large branch that fell on my garden--I found that cayenne pepper is great for sore shoulders. Really, it warms and tingles.

You are right we will be very happy for all that stacked wood this winter. We still have lots to stack so I am hoping those muscles will work it out.

It did feel good to be out there doing it. I made me feel a good kind of tired and I did sleep well last night! I definitely agree with you on feeling young in my mind. Too bad our bodies have to age so much faster than we think of ourselves.

I have noticed that the grandmothers are looking younger all the time. I haven't changed so what's up with that?

I do know exactly where you are coming from. Me and hubby stack over 22 rick of wood every year.
And we get tired and sore ... but all is forgotten when I see my wood barn stacked to the door! 12 feet wide six feet high and 16 feet long.
When we sell this farm tho the next one will be much SMALLER in hopes of not so much stacking.
Hope your sore muscles feel better soon.

I just sprinkled the pepper directly on my shoulders. The warmer you get, the better it works. That tree limb is finally cut through--I sawed and sawed but it was oak and it was thick. Finally I asked my neighbor's son (who is no spring chicken) if he had a chainsaw or a good saw. He came over and, being a man, refused to quit until he had sawed, chopped, and knifed his way through that branch. I tried to tell him to stop before he hurt himself (he told me he has a bad heart--but he refused to quit--said he couldn't let the tree win). Is it any wonder men die earlier than women? And if he does have a heart attack I'll be the one feeling guilty. He didn't tell me he had a bad heart until he was well into cutting through the branch. And he refused to accept payment. I finally took my saw away from him and he got his own saw. And an axe. And a knife. He won. I hope he doesn't die. What is it with men? The scary part is, he said he wanted to have a heart attack and die. Yikes. I tried to stop him. But he was hell-bent on winning against that tree. Please pray that he doesn't die. So that's how my afternoon has been. Sheesh.
