I would love to participate too! Unfortunately, most young ladies my age around here are only interested in the here and now of this world. I would love to do something fun and old fashion like this! |

Hi Nikki and NeeNee, You are most welcome to join us with our quilt project. The more the merrier!
NeeNee, I just emailed the Quilt Block information and the Quilter's Mailing List.
Nikki, please email me so I can send the information to you. Also, from both of you I need your mailing addresses to add to our Quilter's List.
Everyone, as soon as I have Nikki and NeeNee's addresses I will email you the new list.

Hi Everyone. Just wanted to let you all know that I just finished putting together a new Quilter's List and emailed to each of you. It seems I had one two many copies of the list on two computers and they were getting mixed up. So, I went through all the sign up emails and created a completely new list from those. There are now 19 names, addresses, MJF names and email addresses. I sure hope I've gotten it right this time. :)
Also, I am missing blocks from jerseygirlsue, momofseven, Penny Wise, Daizy, and Dandee Rose. Please let me know if you sent them, they may have gotten lost in the mail.
Have a great day! {{{Hugs}}}

Hi Kathleen. Thanks for the updated list. I will work on my blocks for the two newest members and have them out by the first of the week.
I went through my blocks and I am missing blocks from jerseygirlsue, momofseven, sassynrob, Churunga, and Daizy. I will run by the post office tomorrow and post an update if any have come in.
If anyone has not received a block from me, please let me know. Thanks!

Hay ya'll....and welcome to our new quilters!!
Just wanted ya'll to know that I have NOT sent out my squares yet. I am holding them until they are all completed and will send them all at once so I won't get confused. (Its a personal problem!!) I am working on completing them and will add our new farmgirls to my stack. I will also be printing and going thru the new list and checking the squares off that I have already received. That way I can let you know if I am missing yours. 19 squares....does that include my own or just the sisters we mail out to?
Sewing Sewing Sewing.

Hi Daizy
There are 19 of us in total. If we don't end up with an even number I think I will use the 20th block as a place to write a brief "story" about the quilt.
I have been very busy canning and dehydrating tomatoes but will get the last two blocks out to our newbies soon.

I have been in the canning business also and chicks arrive in less than a month and I have to get ready for them. So, no rush!!! I love the idea of the extra block for info on the quilt. Maybe MJF logo.... what else would everyone add to that block?

I'm curious about what your talking as far extra stuff on block. Explain plz. I love the idea of the names, but I would.just like more personal from each individual farm girl to put something special to them like a quote Or bible verse. The more farm girl in it the better.

Hay there,
Our names and location are on the blocks ... Maybe sister # and date joined? I like the quote idea also.

NeeNee,
Love the idea, but as most of our blocks are completed and mailed, we'll have to add quotes and verses on the next one. Glad you could join us, and I hope to get my block out to you by month's end.
Blessings,

How much material will we need if we were just using one pattern along with the middle Muslim material for the pattern? I am terrible with numbers and want to make sure I do not run out!

It is very little. Each block contains the equivalent of one 5" x 6 1/2" square of one kind of print, one 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" square of another print, one 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" and one 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" each of muslin.

All that's needed are little bits of scraps, except for the off-white pieces which will probably take about 1/2 yard.

Nikki and NeeNee, I mailed your blocks today. Please let me know when they arrive. I'm still missing a few, but I think I'm going to try a quilt-as-you-go method. Have any of you worked on a quilt this way before?

My first 6-square quilt was made with the quilt-as-you-go method. It worked pretty well because I could carry it with me and quilt between classes while I was in college. I didn't loosely stitch the batting pieces together and I would recommend doing that.
I received this block from Shelly Bowman-Boge.

All you really have to do is cut the shapes and sew them together. I cut all the prints first and match them up then I cut the muslin. When my husband is out of the house, I sew them together.
