I am not a great gardener; I admit it. That is why I am so excited when my Tangee strawberries continue to bloom and fruit. I asked the National Germplasm Depository for the cuttings and they've grown for all these years.

Vanessa...OK, are you trying to make us Northerners Jealous or What? LOL

If you have never done Strawberries before...you will want to put caging of
some kind over them...so the birds don't feast on them instead of you.

Love and Hugs,
Peggy

I don't lose much to the birds, the plants are in planters and large pots, plus they are rather small, so they are hidden by the leaves. The bugs get to them if they are there too long. Last year, I would take one bite of a strawberry, then offer the other half to my dachshund. After the growing season ended, he couldn't understand why we didn't search through the plants anymore!

Yes, I am officially jealous. We still have frozen berries from last season, but months to wait for the new crop. Your sharing with your dog reminds me of Willy, a dog we used to have, who loved to join me picking raspberries. He never picked them himself, just calmly waited for me to share them as I picked.Enjoy!

Wow, strawberry blossoms in February? We just shoveled the latest 6"s of snow off the driveway this morning. The snow mounds here are higher than me (I'm 5'4") and our high tomorrow will be 6. So yes, I'm jealous, but hope you keep posting pictures of your spring! They give us hope that some day spring will show up here in the north.

I got them from cuttings. These were developed in Louisiana, not sure how they'd grow up north.

Just a few days more for this one. Plus my cat left a decapitated mouse on the back porch. Wonderful way to begin the day.
