I would like to try making a homemade ham loaf, currently I purchase it from the local butcher shop. It appears to be just ground ham. But I really do not know. We tried to make it with just grinding ham last year and it was really salty, and did not taste good at all. A costly mistake. Any ideas?

I know my neighbor used to make a fabulous ham loaf. She used ground pork along with the ham. I never got her recipe before she passed away. I'd check allrecipes.com for suggestions. Or someone here may have a tried and true recipe to post. Susan

Here's another one: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Ham-Loaf-I/
Reviewer says that there is too much milk, which makes the mixture soupy. You may want to try it yourself once, and see if you need less of the moo juice.

Thank you for the website link, I will give this a try next weekend, not to sound stupid but I wonder do you roast the ham first? I know that ham is already cured so maybe that step is not required.?
I will let you know how it turns out.

If the ham says it is "fully cooked" you would not need to roast it first.
I looked at the recipes on AllRecipes, I would also leave out at least some of the milk. The ladies at my church made ham loaf for funeral dinners that had a pineapple component in it, it was delicious. When I think of ham loaf that is what I remember.
