Just joining in. My picture for this week....."Framed"

Our ice storm in early December. The ladder is there to cut branches. It was too dangerous to drive through.

I'm glad we have new people joining in, I love to see everyone's photos.

Here's my looking down photo. Daughter and I went to the Cherryville Historical Museum over the weekend and this was sitting on one of the desks

Here's another one from the museum. This building was built in the early 1900's. The first floor housed the police dept, the fire dept and the city offices. The second floor was the court room and the basement was the jail. This is Stephanie at the bottom of the steps leading to the jail.

Here's one more from the museum, it doesn't fit with this weeks theme but this the fire truck the city purchased in 1922 - and it still runs!

Another looking down... This is looking down at the futon.

We have seven cats. I had a big, comfortable leather chair and all the cats loved it. I'd end up with cats on my arms, one around my neck, layed across my legs. So, we replaced the chair with a full size futon. Now I have a sliver of futon and six cats have most of it! The seventh cat is against the woodstove catching his whiskers on fire.

So good to be back home!!

I have coffee with my husband by this window every morning (ok, so sometimes it's almost noon but...) this was my view morning. We had about 8 inches of snow, haven't had that much snow in a long time.

Was looking at the list and realized I forgot to post my "looking down" picture, so here it is. I had climbed to the top of the Ponce Inlet lighthouse in Florida and took this picture of my Mom and my Cousin waiting for me on the ground.

I seem to always be running behind on this. Today my daughter and I went out to take photos, I'm learning to use her Nikon DSLR, and the camera battery died after just a few shots. She's teaching me how to shoot in manual mode so I was playing around with a shallow depth of field and this is the one I liked the best.

Thanks Mel.
I taught my daughter photography when she was in about the 9th grade (home schooled) with my old Minolta film camera. Now she is trying to teach me digital photography and I'm so technology challenged that using her Nikon is scary. I've had a digital for years but it's only in the last few months, since this challenge, that I've gotten my camera out of auto mode. I'm having fun with this but learning her camera is a real chore for me.

I love seeing everyone photos and I hope we can keep this going for the whole year. It would be fun if more would join in too!

Looks like this worked. I've never uploaded a picture to mjf before. It was taken this fall north of Greenville maine on paper company land when we were partridge (ruffed grouse for everyone else) hunting. Hope you like it.

This picture from last summer at Lake Wallenpaupack in our bass boat makes me think warm thoughts, so will call it my "warmth" picture.

Here's my liquid picture - sap dripping in the sap bucket last spring - just waiting to be boiled down into yummy maple syrup!

Great Photos!

My mother's biggest problem with my Nikon is that she's afraid of it. The camera is tempermental, but it's not much different than a film camera. Mom has a D1X and I've upgraded to a D200.

I'm going to get caught up on the challenges tomorrow night, I have a few photo shoots to edit tonight that I'm avoiding right now. LOL

So good to be back home!!

LIQUIDS
When I was baking bread yesterday and got to the stage of mixing wet ingredients, this reminded me of "stacking liquids" a science experiment. The different density of the liquids makes them stay in separate layers in this case.honey, water, and olive oil.
