I received Prismacolor color pencils for Christmas. They are very nice, but the box is not well made. I am trying to think what I can use to lay the pencils out in rows and see them in tray or ????? There are 150 pencils and would like them in sturdy trays. What kind of wooden box with trays or drawers would work for this. I do have a wooden tea box I think maybe I could get my hubby to make some trays for. Also what kind of small wooden stand has wooden drawers that would be shallow to hold the size of pencils?

I have mind standing in a can and also in a tin box. You could try a utensil or knife tray if wanting them stored flat. When drawing I like mine in view and sharpened so they are in cans, sometimes color and tones separated.

I have my misc. ones in a plastic Folgers coffee container and that works well. I can't thank the gals on this forum that shared with me. My grandchildren and I have had so much fun with them. Now I have a 150 set of Prismacolor pencils and the kids will not get to use them. There are plenty in the coffee container. I may have to rethink my vision. I have been looking on Pinterest for ideas and have come up with a few. |

In a few weeks, the thrift stores will be getting fancy tins that used to hold gift cookies and candies..... |

oops, just noticed that you posted in another place and mentioned trays. You can make some from plastic canvas and leftover yarn. I cleared out a lot of scraps by making drawer divider trays. |

I have all my special pens and pencils lying flat in a plastic container with lid. Kinda like a school box. I like to protect the points that way. Or those rectangle photo boxes I get a Michaels. Very handy. MB

I stand my pencils (colored and also pencil size markers) in a basket. It is just tall enough and big enough around that they stand easily and I can see the color tops easier that way. Plus I love baskets! :)

My MIL has a neat way to store her scrapbooking markers that might work for you. She put big plastic cups in a wine rack and put her markers in that. You can see all the colors and organize them somewhat.

Lorena, I use a Pringles container too! I use a lot of wooden skewers for turning small, sewn, doll parts inside out and they are perfect to hold those too! Heather, what a great idea! Connie, I love mason jars too, I saw a picture of those green ones! are those not gonna be great for Christmas projects!! I like the pencil box too, Marybeth, reminds me of school days also! Kem, I know the colors are beautiful to behold all laying side by side too! Connie Imagine....#3392 |

Hay ya'll.
Great ideas!! I am on the hunt for a silver ware chest, the wooden type with the felt lining for fine silver. I think I would like a top and a drawer below. It can hold pencils and paint brushes and other small tools of the trade.
Hugs and prayers, Daizy
