Ok. I try not to be "Debbie Downer". I try to stay positive. But this week is really trying.my.patience.

Thursday, my farmgirl chapter came for our Xmas party. I had everyone go through the garage to avoid the icy porch. When they left, I went to close the garage door. It came crashing down! The whole house shook! When DH could not get the door open to get my car out, I did not like feeling trapped! Thankfully, the garage door people came out by 2 the next day, and they fixed it. The spring had broken and the wires snapped! Then on Friday, dd didn't feel well...again. Worried. Then the double oven broke. Then the washer broke. Both are not really that old, but still. When it rains it pours. They can't come out until mid-week to fix either. Then today, I found one of dd's pet hermit crabs dead in the tank. Out of its shell and dead. Her favorite crab. Ugh. Upsetting all around. She's cried and cried. And now, to top it off, I can't find my new shoes. The house is neat as a pin, we've looked everywhere, and I can't find them. I am not a shoe hound, and this is my winter pair. We even checked the trash to see if I absentmindedly threw them in there. Sigh...ever have one of those weeks?

Farmgirl hugs,
Nicole

Well Nicole, you sure have had your share of :(! In our house, our heat pump went, had to have the whole unit replaced, then our car died on our way to see "The Christmas Candle" had to have it towed, thankfully it was just the alternator and battery!
Hope you found your shoes! Toe is better soon and your finger heals quickly! Love the egg in your fridge :)!
Hugs, Ruth

Stop channeling Chevy Chase!! (aka Clark Griswold)
Sounds like a movie in the making!

I know how you feel. Today I had a few errands to run. One of them was going to the bank to deposit $75 worth of checks. When I was packing up, I could not find the checks. I looked everywhere - on my desk which is a mess with cards to answer and letters to write and notes to self, on table piled with gifts to wrap and make, even in the recycling. Then I remembered that I had copied them and that is where I found them - safe on the printer glass. By that time, it was too late to go do the errands. Oh well!

Oh Nicole, how completely awful! You need a nice vay-kay someplace peaceful away from it all. I wish that I was good at saying something comforting and helpful, but I'm just sending big HUGS!

Please try to take a big deep breath, light a candle, bake a few cookies, hug and love on your family, pamper your self and darn it, take care of that toe!

Let Christmas happen and have a big eggnog

Thanks, girls! This past week was really hectic but things improved. The only down side is they could not fix the oven. Going to get a second opinion on that one. Somehow I got everything I needed to do done or fixed and am looking forward to smoother sailing. DD felt better after a day if rest and is now on vacation. I am still going to be mailing presents late but they will be there by New Years. What a weird streak of bad luck that was! Thank you for your prayers and thoughts. Always makes me feel better!

Hugs,
Nicole

We had the garage door spring break once, too, and that is a shocking experience, isn't it? The resulting slam is incredible! It made me jumpy for a few days afterward.

Sorry about the flurry of other bad things that happened.

Hopefully things are on an upswing-

Well, I've been off of here for awhile with the holidays and much going on. Our "bad luck streak" continued, with the dog breaking in a closet and eating all the stocking stuffers (she was okay, not enough chocolate to poison her), an emergency trip to the dentist the day before Xmas Eve, and the day before New Years, since what was fixed wasn't fixed right, a case of sniffles in the house...the list seems to go on. In the end, we had one of the best holidays ever, a very nice relaxing Christmas and a family New Year. I've got to get the oven fixed still, have one working okay so we aren't without, but it's just all small stuff. All the little details are put in perspective when you look at the big picture. One of my friends passed away unexpectedly on New Years Eve after a very brief illness. She and her husband are so devoted to their children, who are my daughter's friends. Stuff breaks, we don't always finish our to-do lists, but it's all small stuff, you know? I am keeping my friend's family in my prayers. Breaks my heart, she was an amazing mom and such a nice person, and too young to go.

Hugs,
Nicole

Nicole, I feel sad to hear that a friend passed away. I know it's hard when someone we know passes so suddenly and unexpectedly. My condolences. And you are absolutely right about all the small stuff being put into perspective. Like you said earlier, "when it rains it pours." I know when so many small things happen, one on top of the next, I feel overwhelmed because it feels so much bigger than it really is. I am glad to hear that your Christmas and New Year were relaxing, though! And the fact that you say it was one of the best ever is great! Cherish your loved ones!
