I purchased the most gorgeous hand-knit 100% wool Norwegian pullover sweater at the thrift store today for only $6.00! The only problem is that I'm a size women's medium and this is a mens XL. Ha! Yeah, a bit too big for me.
I'm very handy with a sewing machine and I also knit, but I can't figure out the best way to alter this thing. I'll need to remove the sleeves in order to shorten them, but it's the sides and edges I don't know how to fix.
Now, I could use an invisible weaving stitch for the side seams, but since I don't have a serger I don't have an easy way to fix the edges once they're trimmed. I've googled but haven't seen any good ideas, so I though I'd ask here.
Any suggestions will be most appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Jan, I would try asking on Ravelry, there are so many expert knitters on that site, that I am sure you will find all the help you need. In case you don't have the link here it is. https://www.ravelry.com Good Luck!
