It's been soooooooo gloomy here that I couldn't stand to wait. I (big confession) stealthed a string of white Christmas lights into the kitchen window *gasp!!*

Too funny. Glad that small task brought big smiles and less gloom.

You know Annika, you may have something here. Maybe it is time to bring out the lights. You says you have to wait. By the way, what are we suppose to wait for anyways? I think that I shall start my Christmas decorating now just because I love Christmas so much.
Thanks for sharing.

The weather has been so grim! I needed sparkles lol! I've decided that as the days get darker, I'm just going to add more beautiful light

Annika-
I'm with you- a little sparkle makes me happy! I think I will start one of the trees this Saturday- it's our holiday parade in town and perhaps it will be nice to come home to a primitive twig tree all ready when Nat and I come home!!

If it makes your Heart Happy, Enjoy it !Oh, I love Christmas! I am getting in that Spirit too! My tradition at my house for the last 10 years has been to take the Christmas Tree down Super Bowl Sunday. I leave it for sure all of January!! The Wise men did not make it to Bethlehem until January 8th. We take down the outside decorations by January 5th. and I leave out my Dickens Village until the end of January. One radio station in Memphis has started the Christmas Music 24-7 until December 26th! A Christian Dr. owns it and he plays a commercial that says, No Happy Holidays here at 1210 Am, it is "MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I want to leave the lights up all year long. Why not? The only thing preventing it is the feat of crawling under the couch to plug and unplug them.

Marie, I decided to just leave some of the more difficult ones to reach up all year a couple of years ago and I can tell you right now that they quickly become a haven for spiders and dust bunnies. I was always spending way too much time cleaning them. I do live out in the farmlands and that no doubt made for a more difficult experience. Crawling under the couch doesn't sound like a lot of fun either

Girls...I love Thanksgiving and Christmas so much...but I must be honest...the day after Christmas I start taking everything down...I am ready for Spring and new beginnings...I guess I took that after my dad...he loved to garden...and would stand and look out the kitchen window in the Winter and wish for the day to come that he could start plowing and planting...he was an outdoors boy...just like my DH...:-) :-) :-)
Ms. Connie you better not call me Scrooge...:-) :-) :-)

Hugs!

Judy! I would never call you Scrooge! Keeping my tree up makes January go by faster, so we can get to Spring! LOL!! Big HUG! It was funny when my God-Children were little. They would come over and say WOW! It is still Christmas at your house! LOL!!

Good for you Annika!! I've been slowly getting some of my Christmas stuff out too! It's way too wonderful to only have out for a month. I would keep my Christmas stuff up after Christmas too but, we get a real tree. One year I made the mistake of leaving it up (we just didn't plug the lights in) and it was the biggest mess ever! I actually broke my sweeper trying to get all the needles up from taking it through the doorway! Will not do that again!!!

Annika... Since we're confessing... I've been secretly watching Christmas movies all by myself for the past couple of weeks while the guys are at work in the evenings. I just need to feel that Christmas feeling, you know? And tonight it's going to be our first big snow, so all I want to do is make peppermint mocha coffee complete with peppermint candy flaked and mini chocolate chip sprinkled whipped cream, and listen to Christmas music by candlelight. I am actually thinking I might stay up to do just that! Silly, silly me! What can I say? When it snows, the Lorelai Gilmore wakens within me... The world is just such a magical place when snowflakes are sparkling all around... The cool white blankets quiet the earth, and twinkle lights cast their romantic holiday glow. Pure bliss. So, sister, if it's Christmas lights in the window pane that brightens the gloom away, I say, GO for it! The holidays are upon us - the season is meant to be celebrated! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Hugs -

Annika (and girls) I am with you! I LOVE having twinkling lights up all year round. We have been having unusually warm weather lately but I have been listening to Christmas music and started watching my Christmas movies :)

Judy, you make me smile :) BTW, I love your sig line: There is always something to be thankful for. This is what I tell the kids in Sunday School when it is time for prayer :)

Last night the second string went up around the dining room window and my sweet man actually cheered when he walked through the door the soft white light surrounding the dinner table all set for dinner WAS a pretty sight indeed.

Tonight (hopefully!) I'm going to start on a gathered burlap and green country check garland whilst I drink mulled spice tea and watch some incredibly girly movie (Pride and Prejudice is one of my faves)
Some years Christmas has just sort of happened around me as in a chaotic blur as I try to get everything done. So THIS year I'm trying to sneak up on it Last year was sooooo crazy around here and so far (crossing fingers) things have been peaceful. I'm so enjoying the crafting, recipe gathering, gift making, fun even planning, cider drinking and pretty Christmas lights loving time this year.

So get a little guilty, be naughty ( a little bit only) and nibble a candy cane, sing Jingle Bells when no one's around to hear you (or when they are !) hang up your lights, light your candles, drink your nog and enjoy!!! enjoy!!! enjoy!!!!
