I just got approved to join. I'm so excited. I found the magazine Friday at Border's Book Store and can't seem to stop looking at it. I live on a small hobby farm with 9 sheep, 4 goats (angora and cashmere), 2 angora rabbits, chickens, dogs, and cats. I sew, knit, crochet, spin, weave...you see the pattern here. I love crafts. This last issue of the magazine makes me want to go sew aprons. LOL
I look forward to learning new things on this board.
Later, LynnMarie |

Jenny, I have one shetland ram, 2 1/2 (one is mixed) Babydoll Southdowns, 3 black/brown Suffolk mixes, 2 Cheviot mixes. I get a good variety of wool. Tomorrow I will pick up a duvet that I had machine quilted using wool batting and muslin. I have tons of roving and I knew I'd never find room for more so I had batting made. Now I just need to find time to make a duvet cover.
Oops! I have three angora goats. I forgot to add the spring baby to the list.

What a wonderful variety!! Are your angora goats all white or colored? I only have ever had white ones..just one little spoiled doe right now. I never have a white sheep so it is nice to have white fiber for sure! The duvet sounds wonderful..what a great idea!

Hi Frannie, I had my spinning wheel for several years but was very ill and couldn't get the hang of it. Finally one day, I sat down to try again and got it. So I've really only been spinning a couple of years. I am still practicing.
So what kind of stuff do you make from recycled junk...oops! I mean recycled stuff. That is a hobby of mine too.
jpbluesky - really Springfield, IL??? I love going to Springfield. We went to the new Lincoln Museum and it is awesome!
newheart - Marie is my middle name but Lynn sounds so plain so I thought why not combine it. It sounds more like a farm gal like Mary Jane, right? Is your daughter's name all in one or first and middle name? |

Thanks everyone for that great welcome. I am glad that I am amoung sister craft nuts. HA I have fallen in love with designing and making greeting cards. I gave them for Christmas presents last Christmas and to my delight, everyone loved them so much that they didn't want to send them out. I make them a work of art so that they can be framed if a person wanted to. They are simple to do and they don't really cost much with all of the sales that you can find. Right now I am painting ceramic tile. I made sets of three or six to hang on the wall. They can be pictures of anything. I made these for my daughter-in-law for Christmas. She saw them in a catalog and really liked them. I am not a professional, but I do have fun. Thanks again. JOY |

LynnMarie, Have been away a couple of days so am a little late in giving you a proper welcome, so Welcome!! Your farm sounds wonderful. I have sheep too, but they are the meat kind. I do have a few Romney crosses so their wool isn't to bad. Have only spun once but really enjoyed it, need to find time to really learn how. How much work are the Angora rabbits? We have mini-rexs but my daughter really wants an angora. Glad to have you here! Kel |

Hi Kel,
Like anything else, angora rabbits take as much time as you can give them. If you like holding a cat and stroking it, you will like holding an angora rabbit and brushing it. Needless to say, with all the animals that I have, I don't schedule my rabbits enough time. |
