For my reflections challenge I was hoping the reflection in the glasses would be clear enough to see what website was on the computer at the time - of course it's MJF. It didn't quite work out like I was hoping, but had fun trying. I used the candlelight mode on the camera and also put it on a tripod. The shutter speed was only 1/2 second so I used the shutter delay button so I would not shake the camera.
Steph is going to teach me to edit photos and she loaded GIMP and Picasa, both free editing software programs, on my computer and edited this photo. Here is the edited version

Having fun trying new things!

I was hoping to get a picture of the cows reflection in the water tank but it didn't work:

As I was eating lunch pondering what I could do for a reflection I noticed that my laptop was very reflective:

Since the curtain isn't a very interesting subject I added some Christmas decorations:

While I don't think these rate anywhere near the top of my best photo list this was a fun new idea. I'd like to try again in the summer after a rain or at a lake or something.

Patty - what a creative picture!! I love the way it turned out.
Kathy - what a great idea too. It almost worked. It would be neat to do the same idea with an object or a scene from outside.
Marie - I never even thought of using a vehicle! That's a cool picture!
Stephanie - love the lake photo. I'd like to try it someday.

The edited version of mom's photo was cropped in GIMP (google image manipulation program, a free photoshop type photo). Then I removed the lights from her monitor and wireless card, copied the reflection in the left lens to the right lens, added some contrast there, and brightened up the PC screen. It took us about half an hour.

GIMP is a really neat program for editing. Picasa is pretty cool, too, but it doesn't do as much.

So good to be back home!!

It is a lot of fun. I'm always taking pictures and now I'm learning a lot of new ideas! This was a great idea. I think after the holidays I'm going to look into the editing programs. I've just got too much to get done now and I know I'll spend too much time playing if I get them now :)

I just joined Adobe Creative Cloud to have access to their newest suite of programs. It's $9.99 a month for the basic. I'm blown away with what it can do, it's everything that I was told and then some.

So good to be back home!!

Hi all,
I am going to have to bow out the next 2 weeks. It is finals for me and I am a little overwhelm at the moment. The 10th is my last 2 finals and then I will be done and able to start again. I hope you understand.

The battery in my camera gave out and I cannot find the battery charger. I will post the missing pictures when I get this sorted out.

I guess I noticed this thread too late. I am really enjoying the pictures you have posted. You are motivating me to get busy!

Brenda,

I think you can jump in anytime. It would be fun if you did the first challenge, the self portrait so we can see who you are, and then just start where we are. This week it's black and white (I'm going to try to post mine tonight or tomorrow - seems like I'm always late). Next challenge is "sky". Come on in and play, the more the merrier.!

I think I will. I will wait until at least tomorrow for the self-portrait. Funny that the current challenge is "Sky", I've been sending pictures of "sunny skies" to my brother-in-law for weeks now.

It is a long story having to do with an old Victrola and a Gene Autry recording of "Sunny Skies Again". My DH winds up the Victrola every time BIL comes to visit, even on the cloudy days, which causes complaint!

Here's my B&W. Had to shoot this one a couple of times under different lighting. This is daylight from a window with fill flash with the camera on portrait mode.

I found the charger and I took this black and white picture.

It is a piece of fleece fabric I bought with which I will make a friend a tied-fleece blanket.

Love all the pictures that have been posted. Here is a snapshot of an early morning sky

Here's my B & W photo. Thought I'd compare the color to this BW. Same subject, same lighting.

For my skies submission - we happened to be driving by at a magical moment - the early bird gets the photo, I guess.

and even though it was last week's challenge I wanted to experiment with black and white. I took a photo of a sunflower seed head that the birds had pretty well used up and then edited it on Google+ which was quite an experience (you have to use Chrome browser) Here's the result
