Any farm girls interested in a 30 day photo challenge? Each day we would take photos around one theme or word, I'll upload them into a gallery nightly, and we can provide constructive criticism to each other...

I was talking to my mom (KathyC) and she thinks we should do one photo a week.

Here's some info - http://www.expertphotography.com/30-day-photography-challenge/ or http://www.pinterest.com/pin/1618549840090099/

Or, we take turns picking the "topic" for the week we're going to photograph.

The photos can be sent to me and I'll put them up in my Printroom gallery, on my website, or on FB, wherever y'all are more comfortable with.

I also like this one for a 52 week challenge - http://www.pinterest.com/pin/1618549840090065/

I am doing my own thing (again). I took a photo of my horses yesterday and ended up posting it to FB so I will do this for 30 days. It was just a random shot of them at the pasture gate hoping for a treat. My friends liked it and many commented on it. If I could get them to post here I would share on this thread. But you will have to explain how to do that. The ranch is my life so my photos will probably be mostly that subject. Hugs and prayers, Daizy

When would this start. I would love to take pictures of the epic snowfalls we can get here in Minnesota.

There are several ways we could share - you can email me the photos and I'll post them here, we can create a FB group for our photo challenge where we can all share photos, or if someone has a better idea I'm open.

Why don't we start our first challenge the week of November 4th? I'm moving home to NC November 1st and will probably be without internet for a few days here and there.

Do we want to do a 52 week challenge? Or a 30 day?

I'd like it if we could post them here. I rarely am on FB. I only have the account to "like" something and get a discount or win a prize. I am open to either a 30 day or 52 week challenge.

Let's plan on starting November 4th with the first challenge, and have all of the photos posted on the thread by Friday night? Does that sound good?

let's do the 52 week challenge, that looks like fun!

I like the one a week (by Friday) idea. Posting here is good because I don't have FB. Is there a topic picked yet?

I also like the once a week on Friday idea. I don't have FB either and posting here would really work best for me. What is the first topic we need to work on?

I'm going to use the 52 week challenge linked above and just start at the top.

So, the first challenge due by November 8th will be self portrait. If you aren't able to post them here email the photos to me at stefffic@gmail.com and I'll take care of posting!

Have fun!!

CissiK,

You can also use mirrors or the self timer on your camera.

Thanks,
Steph

Thanks, never thought about mirrors. Will have to get out the manual for the camera. Believe it or not, I've never used the self-timer. That's why I'm doing this....to explore the many areas of photography, starting with the camera. It's a Nikon D80. Have several lens and just haven't used it to its full potential.

I shoot with a Nikon D1X.

I believe the D80 also has a remove you can use for firing the shutter, I'm not sure how pricey they are, though!

What lenses do you have? I usually shoot with a 24 - 80 Nikon, but also have a Tamron 55 - 200. Mom has a D70 she's trying to fix and she has my older 28 - 80 Nikon lens on it.

I want to do a self portrait in my side mirror on the truck, I need to play with it some to see if I can get it to work like I want.

I have a fisheye 10mm, just for fun, 18 - 105mm with a macro, 200mm, 24- 70mm-new and heavy. PLaying with the latest now. I love doing macro= lens allows me to do up to 2" from subject. And, the 18-55 that came with it. I'll look into the remote feature.

I want a Fisheye, that's going to be my next lens purchase. Then I need to upgrade to faster lenses!

I have been trying to take my own picture and ick!! I see myself and say NO NO No!! But that is what i look like , dang it all. I guess we are our own worst critics. My hubby said oh nice picture and I said WHAT?? I won't go on. But this challenge is fun. Now when you say 'self portrait' you mean we take our own pic? Thanks MB

I just ordered a remote shutter made by Nikon. It comes tomorrow. I am going to have fun using it~ I also bought a Kindle book on photography. First assignment was to read the manual to look up certain function. One was using the timer or setting it up for a remote device! This should be fun!

I want in on this swap. I'm not going to tell the name of my wimpy camera. Hoping Santa will bring me a good camera this year.
