Does anyone know if glass jars like spaghetti jars can be reused for canning if a two piece lid fits properly?

Lorena - I wouldn't get rid of those jars just yet! Even though they are not good for water bath or pressure canning, if you sterilize them well, you should definitely be able to use them safely for storing dry goods. If the Ball lids fit, I'd definitely use them for dry storage. If you have a FoodSaver with the canning jar lid attachment for vacuum-sealing dry goods, all the better! :) Hugs - Nini

Lorena, those jars are really only meant to go through the super high heat just once. However, I totally agree with Nini. Don't get rid of them. Use them for all those fancy Mason jar crafts or dry food or craft storage. You can also use them to send leftovers for lunches or portions of hot meals to friends like a take-out container. We've even used ours for capturing monarch caterpillars this summer and watching them metamorphosize into the butterflies!

I was just curious. I was saving some to make the homemade chai powder and hot chocolate for Christmas gifts for my siblings and friends when. I noticed that a canning ring fit one. Then I got to thinking but decided to ask first.

I had a food saver once and I loved it. It broke. Maybe I'll ask dh for another for Christmas.
