Need to stain our deck and wasn't planning to get the Super Deck stain until May, but got a $7.00 Ace hardware reward which expires the end of April. Decided to save $7 and buy a little earlier! That stuff is expensive as it is!

Another way to save on stain and paint is to go to your local trash transfer station and see what they have that needs to be disposed of in another way besides the landfill. I have gotten paint there before.

We use the "natural" finish Super Deck. The deck is redwood and we use this brand because it "feeds" the wood. There is NO chipping, peeling, etc.

Sara, I actually made my Alaskan malamute's bed. I useda 50% off coupon at Joann Fabrics for the foam. I already had the fabric bought on sale with a coupon, total spent was less than $20. Lately, Joann Fabrics has been mailing lots of coupons

Julie, your doggy bed sounds really nice. I had a fleeting thought of making my own but I gave into reason and bought it. It should be here today.

Took my mom shopped for a special rose bush/plant for Mother's Day. When we got her house she shared some ground cover, vining vinca, and some tomato plants from my dad he had started. Saved me quite a bit of money. I needed ground cover that could cover a part sunny area. This will be perfect.

Yesterday I bought two off white silk throw pillows at the Salvation Army for $5. One muted red rose embroidered in the center of each. I put them in the two white wicker rockers on my front porch for a shabby chic look. Next spring/summer I will look for another set of pillows. By shopping at SA or thrift stores I can afford to change them out for a totally different look.

I have decided to build cold frame garden boxes this year for planting in the fall. I found a neighbor on the iphone app Nextdoor who had some windows they were going to throw out, which I will be using for the top instead of buying the materials myself. Less junk in a landfill and didn't cost a thing!

I saved $144 this week by ordering back issues of the crossword puzzle books that I like. Forty books ended up costing me 80 cents per book. including S/H

My husband a I both spend a lot of our time on our feet at work so good shoes are important to us. Our Universal discount gave us a 30% discount on Sketchers! Whoo Hoo! Also, we're looking into new flooring. Our carpet has seen it's better days! Called a place that will bring samples to our house, have a special going for free install and $100 off because I heard their ad on our radio station. Coming out next Monday. Hope the savings will be substantial!

I started a batch of vanilla extract. Should be really good by Holliday baking time! I also got back to couponing. Saved $34.68 so far this month not counting sales! :).

Haven't posted for a while, but I've had some thrifty accomplishments here and there!

I did my typical burst of garage sale shopping this spring and was able to add to DS's supply of summer play clothes as well as finding several very nice items that he will grow into.

I've found that garage sales are the best way for me to supplement my craft supplies, gift wrapping supplies, home decor projects and holiday decor.

My entire supply of Easter/spring themed holiday decor was lost in our house fire a few years ago and I've picked up new pieces - spending less on all of them than I probably paid for one of my old things!

Have had good luck finding new candles, kitchen towels (still in packaging) etc. for great prices and they get added to my gift closet :)

Even found a couple of brand new pairs of sandals - $2 each

I've been working hard to craft Christmas gifts and misc. decor items for our home using up the supply of felt and other materials I already have.

Jaime, you did good.

Yesterday I saved $50 at the grocery ~ store sales and marked down bins.

Bacon wasn't on my list but in the meat marked down bin was Jalapeno pepper bacon for 50% off. I bought 2 pkg and this morning I cut it up into portions to freeze for cooking dried beans in the fall/winter.

Just got home, but had to stop at the store first. Saved $2.23 in Target on peanuts. My DH puts them in his lunch. But the big savings was when I stopped in Jo-Ann's. I was looking for a shirt pattern for Jon and when I went in the patterns were on sale for $1.99! Bought a shirt pattern, a T-shirt pattern and a skirt pattern for me :). Also had a 50% off coupon in my phone, got some buttons for my owls I'm making...total savings $41.03! I spent $7.61 Made my day.

Our electric company is a rural cooperative and users are stockholders. Every year we get capital credits and this year ours was almost $100.! They used to send a check for the capital credits but about five years, or so, ago they changed that to deducting it from your electric bill. I was pleased to only have to pay a $20.00 electric bill this month!

My grand kids were coming and I needed something for them to do. Our library just received a grant for a 3-D printer. I remember them saying that it was free to the public. I took my 13-15 year old grandsons in and we made items of the printer for both of them. They liked it so much they volunteered to print/make a chess set for the library. All of this was free. We had two great afternoons at the library playing around with the printer. We also have a X Box at our library so they played the game while I did errands around town. The two thought we had the neatest library around. We also used my solar cooker to cook new baby potatoes with out water or electricity. One grandson thought he didn't like red potatoes. I talked him into trying them and he ate three helpings. So much for not liking red potatoes. Instead of buying lemonade at the store I bought a couple of lemons and showed the kids how to make a simple syrup and juice the lemons. They said it was the best lemonade they had ever had. Two other cousins came over late afternoon and had a water balloon fight with sponges instead of balloons. We filled up 5 quart ice cream buckets so everyone had their own and they went to town. We ended the night with a hot dog and s'more roast. The day was a success and didn't take a lot of money.

The electric bill deduction was a nice bonus! BUT, the next months bill has come and, because of the heat and our need to run fans, this one is about $25.00 more than usual! So goes it with summer!
