Hellloooo, I'm still here! Just haven't been online for a bit as I am getting ready for an art show. Been painting & staining allll day! My hands are brown. Susan, Kathy sounds like you both have a bit of spinning experience! I used to belong to a fiber guild-years ago. I am a weaver, but dabbled in spinning & felt making. I bet we can think of something to chat about! ;) It would be great fun to meet up sometime! Anyplace with books & coffee can't be bad! Rhonda

Hey Susan, I have a small local show in a week, mostly a WAHM's (Work At Home Mom) thing. That one is mostly for exposure in the area. Then in a few weeks I have a bigger show in Dekalb, IL a few hours from home. I set up my display today for a trial run...hubby & boys told me it was "very impressive". Hope others think so! I think I am going to try doing Buckley next year-maybe spring. My things would probably go well there. Hey, did someone mention coffee? ;) Rhonda

I'm from NW Indidna too! I haven't checked the MJ site in a while as life has gotten in the way a bit but I love the site! You all mentioned Buckley Homestead in Lowell. My family does demonstrations there! I'm sure our paths must have crossed at some point! It's lovely to meet birds of a feather! |

Well, I guess I should say it's my dh who does the demonstrating at Buckley and the kids and I just add to the scenery. LOL This year we did Tinsmithing. This is after a 6 year break as my dh injured himself at work. Pervious to this he did the blacksmithing there. He kind of trained the current blacksmith who was just a kid at the time so he hated to come back and take over what this kid who is now an adult has been doing these last 6 years. This year we kind of demonstrated last minute so our set up was lacking but next year we will be more prepared. ALso they are talking of having a blacksmith out at the cabin so my dh may do that. I usually keep up with the kids and work on knitting socks or tatting.
Just let me know the time and place for a meeting! I am from the Hebron area. I suppose it would be a little wierd if we all walked into borders with our farmgirl aprons on so we could recognize each other! Especially up there in Merrillville! |

Welcome, Susan !
I love the fact that you wear and utilize your aprons in the classroom. What a great idea. I'm a nurse, myself. I wonder if I could get away with wearing an apron in the hospital (I doubt it) ........it would certainly be a convenient way (and much prettier than the scrubs) to carry around the alcohol wipes, tape, cotton balls, baby bath, etc.
Enjoy the fun times here.
XOXO Shelley
If you're going to walk on thin ice, you might as well danse. |
