I tried a new recipe, that I thought may make a nice gift idea, and post it on my blog - homemade parmesan. I have not yet tried it on pasta. I hope to try it next week, when this hectic week is over with.

So the latest idea is an italian seasoning. I made some for the tomato/pepper/ onion mix and the neighbor said that would be a nice gift ... duh.

12 tsp basil
8 tsp thyme
10 tsp oregano
6 tsp rosemary
6 tsp sage
4 tsp garlic powder.

he best part is I grow most of these herbs!

OH thank you Laurie! I grow all of those. It's too late to gift it this year (will need to really save up the dried herbs), but will put it on my list for next year.

I'm making ornaments from wine corks and bottle caps this week. I'll have a photo later to share.

You know Laurie? I've never tried your hot chocolate yet. I'll have to put that on my wish list.

Someone had posted their grandmother's hot chocolate recipe a while ago (years) and with all the lavender I couldn't resist mixing it in. The trick is not too much.

I can't wait to try the hot chocolate.

I've been spray painting the lids on the baby food jars I'm using for gifting. While cleaning my utility room, I found a can of bronze and chrome colored spray paint.

I'm not painting anything else on them, but will make magnets from bottle caps and fill them with hand crocheted granny squares, and place them on top of the lids. They will be decorated, but then the magnet can be removed and used. Kind of a dual gift idea.

I have all the angel ornaments done but one. Then I just need to tie on ribbons. I'm down to making the last two mushroom ornaments too. Then, it's onto the next ornament.

Two gifts in one! These are baby food jars filled with homemade Mexican Taco Mix, in which I spray painted the lids, and topped them with recycled bottle caps made into magnets with hand crocheted granny rounds. Each magnet was matched to the recipients kitchen color schemes.

I'm knitting my daughter a shawl and my DH an afghan this year. I also hope to crochet throw pillows for my grand-daughter to match the afghan I made her last year.

Aprons for my sisters. Have a large pair of jeans. I decided to use the front of the jeans for one apron and the back of the jeans for another one. Using the legs for the bibs. Will add other fabrics for the ties and ruffles at the bottom. Hope they will like them. They want heavy duty aprons.

Ruffle scarves for my daughter-in-law.

Homemade completely from scratch lasagna and bread for my son.

Love all the things everyone else is doing. It all sounds wonderful! Great ideas for next year.

So many lovely and creative ideas all of you are posting! The recipients of this year's farm girl handmade treasures are going to be very, very pleased! My main project this year are fingerless gloves which I have been knitting in lots of pretty yarns. Fingerless gloves are perfect for when you need the dexterity of your fingers but it is FREEZING out!!

I love everyone's ideas!

In addition to canned goods and marshmallows, my honey is making woodturned pens. I am also making some earrings, mittens from felted wool, ornaments and moustache wax for my honey :)

It will be a very tight Christmas, but a fun one I think using materials we already have available :)

While at Mom's for Thanksgiving, I overheard my sister ask Mom why she didn't have a scrubbie? Yikes!

So, I am cutting up 30 yards of netting I've had in my craft/bedroom closet this weekend.

Because my parents will be downsizing soon and don't need any more "stuff", we are continuing our tradition of the past several years of doing a little trip together where our gift to them is the hotel and meals. It works out really nicely - we get time together, pick someplace interesting, and don't add to the things they'll need to decide to keep or not when they move.

We went to Gettysburg last year, and enjoyed it so much and did not see everything, so we're headed back again this year. There is a new Seminary Ridge museum to check out this year.

Plus Gettysburg has the COOLEST retro candy store!! They have all the old stuff that maybe isn't made anymore by the original manufacturer, but has been picked up by some little niche company. Retro stuff plus some funky new things. Anybody need a 24-inch long gummy worm?

Last year I learned how to knit fingerless gloves so all year long I have been making them. Love to see the yarns make up into beautiful patterns! Guess what everyone I know is getting this year???? My son in law also requested a pair for hunting because he likes the fact that his fingers are free. So, the men can use these as well in the masculine yarns. Oh, and I recently made a few infinity scarves or also called cowls. Easy , peasy on big circular needles. I have a few of them ready to gift as well. This post has been great with so many creative ideas! I think a lot of people are going to be enjoying some very special packages under their trees this year lovingly made by talented Farmgirls!!

This year we are sending gift packs of honey from LaBelle Florida to family members. I am also making "Aphrodite mirrors" for my sister and sisters-in-law with a humongous collection of shells that I got at a yard sale.

Save the Earth...it's our only source of chocolate.

I have learned the art of loom knitting! It is easier on my hands. So that is what most are getting from me, scarfs and neck warmers. I have taught my two grand daughters, a sister and a daughter in law how to use the loom. They have been busy making gifts too. My seven year old grand daughter made her dad a scarf in her favorite color purple. He wears it well and she is so proud of her first project.
