Does anyone know of a natural wormer for tape worms in dogs? My puppy has tapeworms and I don't have $25 that the vet wants for the wormer. It scares me to think he has these critters inside him. He's 5 mo old, and I have had him since he was 3 mo old. Since the guy we got him from said he had no shots or anything, he must have had this since he was little. Anyway, any help I could get would be appreciated!!

If you have any or know anyone that would have any tobacco is supposed to take care of worms. My dad used to feed pipe tobacco to horses once in awhile. I don't know if it really cured anything or not. At least they weren't smoking it. ;) That might be more expensive these days though. Also, you might look into it and see if diatomaceous earth would take care of it. Probably a more healthful route at any rate.

I have yet to use it on my dog, Linda, but diatomaceous earth is supposed to be a very good help with de-worming pets. You can read up on it on this website: http://www.earthworkshealth.com/ I hope this helps! Hugs - Nini

dogs get tapeworm from fleas, so make sure you don't have them or it will be a vicious circle ( pups can get worms of all kinds in the womb from their mothers), tape worms are one of the tuffest to get rid of, and if every segment is not killed, they will be back...I know you are saying money is an issue, but if there is anyway to get the meds from the Vet, it will work faster and be much more effishent...also "Wal-Mart" carries pet meds now with a perscription, you can get the much cheaper...

I use rosemary, wormwood (can sub southernwood), black mustard seeds, thyme, and garlic powder with just enough black strap molasses to make small balls, give a ball per day (size of the balls of course would depend on the size of the critter)and I worm all of our critters with it. Not had any issues since I have started using this recipe.

Just make sure the DE is the kind to be ingested. I have some here in the barn but it is for spreading on the earth and other places insects, etc. are a problem. quote:
