Ok MJ sorry I have to post this but I found this in taste of home for drying fruit in the oven...

After washing and slicing fruit arrange fruit I'm single layer on non stick baking sheet. Preheat oven to 170°. Put one sheet on each rack don't crowd pans. Keep oven door open slightly. Stir fruit every 30 min. Fruit when done should be chewy not crispy or squishy. This process could take 4-8 hours depending on fruit.Thickness. When. Dried let stand overnight ((ay least 13 hrs) before placing in containers. For fu instll instructions

For full instructions get taste of home canning and preserving edition. Will.be on the rack until August 20. I'm going to try this as I can't afford a dehydrater.
