I went up to Cleveland, Tn. yesterday to get these 7 3 month old Barred Rock pullets. They belonged to a young boy who is in 4-H. He was so cute and happy to be making some money. Not a whole lot, since he had to pay his parents back for the purchase of them. And maybe the feed. They were discussing that as I left.

So I am back in the egg layer business again. I had just sold my last 4 non egg laying hens and their side kick roo about a month ago. I won't get eggs til fall probably, but it'll be worth the wait. I might get more, if I can find some the same age somewhere a little closer.

Lovely! And supporting a 4-H'er is a wonderful thing, too. I'm our club's poultry advisor, and our son participates with fancy poultry (Mille Fleur d'Uccles) and breeding sheep (Icelandic, and Leicester Longwool). When he is able to sell some of their offspring, be it chickens, chicks, eggs, or lambs, the look on his face and his excitement is precious. Smiling & Waving, Sharon

Love it! We've only ever had two Barred Rock hens here, and they were the best mamas we ever had!

These 7 chicks are so quiet and sweet. I went out awhile ago and the door to the coop was open. I ran out there thinking they were all gone but they were all still inside. They've been roosting a lot today. It's surprisingly cool outside today. I gave them electrolytes in their water just for a boost. They look healthy though. I love BR chickens. And the roosters are beautiful. I alos like Buff Orpinton and Red Star. They had some Americana and a Production Red but they weren't old enough to tell whether they were male or female. And I don't want any roos right now.
