Does anyone know how I can get red marker off of wood? My youngest son wrote his name in red marker on the back of his violin! The teacher told them to make sure their name was on their stuff, but he didn't realize he wasn't suppose to put it on his violin! We are renting this violin and I've tried rubbing the marker off with vinegar & water, plain water, and alcohol wipes. So far, it has barely faded.

Help please!

I would call a couple of other violin shops and ask them what they suggest. I know some luthiers use metallic sharpies instead of masking tape to mark fingerings for beginning players. So there must be something they can use to get the ink off the fingerboards. Good luck!

Thanks Marilyn. I'll check around and see what they say.

Try a magic eraser. With pledge with lemon.
