I've been watching too. They just found two people who were overcome by the fire. Horrible. I sure hope all of the FGs are safe!

My friend and fellow farmgirl Grace Gerber who owns and runs Larkspur Funny Farm had to evacuate with all her animals. Prayers that her farm is safe would be appreciated.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. I am still out on our road trip, but headed back to Robin's in Phoenix tomorrow. To the best of my knowledge there are no fires, or major ones, on the Western Slope of the state. I live in the southwest corner and not close, at all, to the Colorado Springs fire. But it just breaks my heart that my beautiful home state is "under fire" again. We are SOOOOOOOO DRY and it is SOOOOO HOT! Just talked with my hubby and says it is dry and hot at home. Has been a dry spring . . we NEED RAIN!!!!
I'm praying for all who are in the path! And praying that there are none on my side of the state but I know it's very, very possible!
Thanks again!
CJ

My neice's fiance is fighting the fires in the Col. Springs area. My brother and sister and their kids live there. They can see the smoke and smell it. That's so scary. And I didn't realize Grace lived that close to the Springs. It got really close to her. I hope she's alright. But please pray for ken and all the firefighters.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of the people affected by the fires...and for those who work so hard and risk their lives to ensure the safety and well being of others.

Marilyn aka mountain mama are fine too, the fires are a little ways from each of us.
Kristin I will keep your family and all firefighters in my thoughts and prayers.
Marilyn and I live about 45 minutes west of Colorado Springs, it would have to go a ways to get to us.
Thanks for caring everyone.
Hugs,
Debbie

Hi Debbie, I sent you a couple of emails, but not sure if you are receiving them. I'm happy to hear you're fine and hopefully all our other sisters in Colorado are safe also. Thanks for the update

I live far from all the fires and all friends and family are still at a safe distance at this point. Its so horrifying and sad to see so much destruction and my heart breaks for all these people. Before these recent fires started my husband and I took a day for fishing and went to the Poudre Canyon where one of the fires was last year. It was very sad to see how devastated that area is. Even as far as we are, we are dealing with burning and itchy eyes from smoke in the air. It was particularly bad in Denver after the first day or so. It looked like fog around the tall buildings downtown and dark like a storm coming. So weird! I can't believe how many areas are burning or have burned. And we just had a lightening storm roll thru, but not a drop! Yikes!! We need rain! Please pray for some. Not a flood amount tho please.. so be careful how ya pray. ;/ best to all,
Hugs,
Jo

I live north of the area, but those first few days, the bad air extended past Denver. One afternoon, I came upstairs and some front had blown it our way and you could smell and see all the smoke in the air. I was working on some paint projects outside and had to stop because of fine ash. My daughter was up at a camp this past week and 4 of the girls there, lost their homes while they were at camp. How sad!! I seen a news story the other night about a family who lost their home last year in the big fire, so they moved in with their parents while they were getting reestablished. They had just started receiving money from the insurance company and buying some of their things back and BOOM...they lost their parents house as well now. I can't even imagine the range of emotions. I'm thankful that I have no friends and family down there, but we had 2 other fires going on at the same time and if anyone has ever visited the Royal Gorge Bridge, the entire park area is gone. All that stands is the bridge. They lost all but 4 of their buildings and most of their animals. Obviously, since I'm in Colorado we get bombarded 24/7 with the photos and every time, it's like a stab in the heart!

Thank you everyone for your prayers and concern. We live near CJ so we are not affected by the fires. I am praying for those who are. From what I have read, this is the worst wildfire the state of Colorado has had.

Yes Jody, we need rain!

I'm sitting up tonight just because Wetmore had a dry lightning storm earlier in the evening. And red flag weather is posted for tomorrow. We've had five wildfires in this area over the last couple of years - it seems like it is just a matter of "when?". I look out my south and east windows and see burn from the last wildfire in October. here's a photo of Jerry leading giving our granddaughter, Delilah, a ride. Burnt area in the background. I'm a bit touchy.

This is the effects of the West Fork wildfire from Wetmore (Front Range). Eyes burn, headaches, cautioned not to go outside to exercise. Weirdly beautiful light. My husband tells me to focus on how this is the Earth's way of healing Herself.
