Hi Friends,
I am coming here for some help, ideas really anything you can offer!!

My oldest daughter is getting married June of 2014. My two younger daughters will be hosting a shower. My idea is instead of playing games, I would like to make everyone a half apron to wear and then take home. There will probably be 20-25 gals there. Missy- my oldest daughter loves the idea!! What in the heck- she "LOVES" my idea...that in it's self is a gift from God!! I want my mom, my three daughters, Missy's soon to be step daughter and mine to match- most likely the fabric and mix up the patterns a bit. Any other ideas of patterns that I could get to use. Not too hard- not the best sewer, but I can do ok. Really could use some brain storming with this...I have time, but don't want to put it off for to the last minute. Thank you in advance gals- I know I can ALWAYS count on your help!!!

Love to you all!!

Lori

I would do a bride apron for the bride-to-be, white, lots of sparkles and lace, for the mother-the-bride shades/patterns of pink or rose fabric, same sparkles & lace, mother-in-law-to-be shades/patterns of blue, fabric sparkles & lace, other family members and members of the wedding party use the colors the bride selected for her wedding and same sparkles & lace,

I would make the bride's really fancy. BUT, I will tell you Mary Jane does a really easy one...use a kitchen towel! (get some thin decorative types, like flour sack ones) And you just add ribbon to the sides for tying (the towel would go horizontal across your lap area) and walla done!

Now MJ's was much simpler then this, but this gives you a good idea. If you use bias tape, for making that many it may be worth investing in a bias tape maker, cause bias tape is so expensive!

Its funny you should come up with that idea! I wanted to do the same thing for my daughters shower a couple of years ago; but realized it was quite an undertaking (timewise)! What I did instead was made four of them as "prizes" instead of the usual gift baskets or bottles of wine! It was a big hit! So really think about the time involved (I know the love is there) Maybe a few will do!

Lori, were you thinking of doing a simple apron like this?
http://www.allfreesewing.com/Aprons/Apron-with-Pocket/ct/1

If so, you could do a similar full-size apron for the bride so that hers would be special, and then choose 3-4 coordinating fabrics for the other ladies and mix and match theirs so they would be original but not all the same.

Normally I would say it would take too much time. But, the kind that Mary Jane sent me with the towel/ribbon. You could probably make 25 with in 3 hours! Faster if you had even just one person helping you.

Lori, I was thinking around the same idea. Make the brides special. Then maybe yours could be one of the brides colors with a similar style as your daughters'. Then find out the MIL to be her favorite color and make one for her, you can also do the other aprons in the ladies favorite colors with a simple style. You also might want to put the date on the apron somewhere for a special memory. I do sew and sell aprons in my small home-based sewing business. I've been sewing for over 50 yrs. I'll be glad to help anyway I can.

This lady just released this apron pattern, and as she explains in the accompanying blog post, here:
http://beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.com/2013/06/easy-as-pie-vintagey-apron-new-pattern.html
it was intended to be just that. Something for a party that you can make lots of variations. Sounds so much fun!

Bandana aprons maybe? At Hobby Lobby there are other patterns besides the more traditional ones.
