I have lost my new issue of MJF. Does anyone have that real simple deoderant recipe in the recent issue or another one recipe??? This one was just baking soda, cornstarch and coconut oil, all of which are already in my pantry. Thanks. |

Hi Reina. The recipe you're referring to was from our regular wellness columnist, Dr. Laura Koniver, MD, in the HomeSafeHome section of our Midnight Hour June/July issue. I'll send that to you via e-mail. Thanks! Carol

Thank you all for the help. I'm so excited about this. I did make some and it turned out pretty good. And so far no stinky under arms LOL.

Reina I too made it the day the magazine got here and it's not bad at all. Not stinky at all, but as hot as it gets here the coconut oil does not hold up well it melts. Next time I will alter a bit and add beeswax to allow it to be more firm. Love all the homemade healthy ideas.

How interesting. I live in the desert southwest now (need to update my profile) and it's dry here, very dry. I was thinking that next time I would add some other kind of oil like grapeseed, apricot, or olive (it's what I have in my cabinet), to make it a little less solid and easier to spread around. I still like it so far.

Girls, don't worry about the homemade deodorant melting on hot days. Just stir it up and use it. After all, cold deodorant melts when it hits your warm skin, right? There's nothing essential about the consistency. |

Bumping up this older topic, but what do you put this concoction in? A jar? Is it more of a solid or like a lotion?
