I planted a row of red onions this year. They grew really fast. But someone told me the other day that once the top part droops over they will not grow anymore. That is as big as they will get. They are probably medium size onion right now. They said I should go ahead and pull them or they will just start rotting in the ground since they are drooping over. Do you know if that is true? If I pull all of them at one time I don't know how I will use that many at one time. I know I could chop them up and freeze them but I really hate to do that if I don't have too. Now I planted the white sweet onions a couple of years ago. They grew slowly and I just pulled them as I needed one. They got big toward the end of the growing season then I finished pulling what was left. I thought these red onions were suppose to get big. I am a little confused about this drooping thing. Does anyone know much about growing red onions?
