Hello, all. I am setting up shop on Etsy to try and make a bit of pocket change and rid my home of extra stuff. I would like to know your recommendations on your store policies. I want to spell it out loud and clear for my buyers.

I have had a shop on eBay before, but that was years ago (before some jerk hijacked my store!!!). Also, any thoughts on payment regarding PayPal vs. Etsy credit card payment?

How do you prefer to calculate shipping? I remember prepackaging my stuff and weighing it w/ eBay and posting shipping costs when listing the item, but just vaguely. Do you use Priority mail when possible?

Thanks, ladies. I appreciate any advice.

You know that all your vintage has to be 20 yrs old or older. And I weigh and print all my postage from home except international. Paypal is my first choice and I always list shipping cost. Under 13 oz. you can ship 1st class. You will get to the point over time that you can just guess and get it pretty darn close.

You are welcome to go to my Etsy shop and copy any of my policies you want.
Jollyquilter is right, USPS tends to be the cheapest way for light items, up to about 2 lbs, then UPS or one of the other shippers might be a little cheaper.
I accept both Paypal and Etsy direct checkout. It took me a while to do direct checkout, but the first DAY I activated it was super busy for me, so I think it really helps customers who are new to online shopping and don't have a paypal. Feel free to convo me on Etsy any time.
