I need a new mixing machine. I had a Bosch and never liked the center post part. My mom loves hers though! I know that Kitchen Aide is terrible ever since it was bought out by Whirlpool. I need something that will do heavy breads (whole wheat and/or gluten free), heavy doughs for granola bars... and that will last for more than a few years.

I've looked at the normal things on Amazon - Breville apparently states not to use it for breads. Cuisinart is interesting...

I recently heard of the Waring Professional 7 quart [/url]http://www.webstaurantstore.com/waring-wsm7q-7-qt-commercial-nsf-stand-mixer-120v/929WSM7Q.html[/url] and was wondering if anyone has used this?

I also am needing a new food processor. I had the Magimix 14 cup before and loved it. Just wondering what everyone else had/liked. (And I should add, I would still have this food processor but for a little mishap in our life a couple of years ago...)

I burned through two Bosch before I realized I needed something with a little more kick! Though I loved mine too. Now I have a vintage Oster food processer from the 70's that works wonderfully, but I hesitate to use it on the really heavy stuff. Just out of fear, since this one is really irreplacable. I think it could do it though, that thing is a beast!

I have a 30 year old Blakesley, the company is now called DeLonghi. I love it. It will make 7 loaves of bread and not even stress the machine. Huge batches of cookie dough are just as easy. They are spendy, but worth the money. Mine is the big one, there are two sizes. I haven't even seen a new one, but it would be worth checking out.

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking about the Electrolux Assistent but at $900 or so... and with our possibly having to make the switch to gluten free permanently I didn't really know if that would be the right machine for me.

And, for the record, the only reason I'm asking is that we lost our house in a wildfire 1 1/2 years ago. After a bit of work on the new house and baby... I'm ready to get back to baking again!

I have always had Kitchen Aid. I had my first one for over ten years and it still works I just wanted a bigger one!
I got that about four years ago. I did consider the Bosch but having most of the attachments for the KA already I stuck with that.
I make whole wheat bread with mine on a regular basis, use all the attachments and have not had any problems.
I am not familiar with any other brands.

I've had a kitchen aid for 5 years now, and it still works great. I make all our bread in it, plus all the other day to day cooking I do, and I've never had an issue with it.

I have had my Bosch for 13 years now and have never had a problem. I understand about the center post but it does do the big job of bread dough. I like the attached blender. I have thought about a Kitchen Aid. When ds graduated from Culinary Arts School he was given a discount on any Kitchen Aid. We have not used that yet. He said I could get one but I prefer he use it for himself. It never expires so he could use it whenever he needs it.

My husband is also really against companies cheapening down and making stuff in China - which is where most stuff is made now days. the Assistent (now the Ankarsrum - the company has an unfortunate habbit of name changes) is made in Europe... and was only $700. http://www.bakerella.com/a-kitchen-assistent/ I think this is what I'll likely get.... just hard to wrap my head around the price!
