Can anyone tell me where to find those beautiful straw hats that we see so often on Mary Jane on the covers of the magazine? I have looked for the past couple years an can only find the ones that are of paper straw, not real straw. Being in the southwest desert area, I would like to find one of the wider banded ones. Any suggestions welcomed. |

We published complete instructions for making the raffia garden hat you often see MaryJane wearing in the magazine in our "Sentimental Journeys" issue (June/July 2010). You can buy our Back Issues Bundle #5, which includes that issue, here: http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/backissues.asp. Thanks!

If you aren't up to making your own, and I am not, look for SunBody's. They are palm hats, handmade in Guatemala. The company is in Texas. They have many different styles, and the hats are wonderfu.
Greetings from the morning side of the hill. |

Good gravy, Mara! I am outtamymindbananas over that site! I LOVE hats!!! Thank you for sharing it with us! The hat you've posted is awesome (great taste, Jody!), and I especially love this one: http://www.berkeleyhat.com/rawocrhafl.html ... but right now it's out of stock. :( I'll keep watching, though! Ohmygosh I can't wait to share this with my friends!!! Thanks again - Nini

Jody, now I realize why I hesitated ordering this hat when I found it: I couldn't figure out whether the color pictured was tan or camel. (It wasn't any of the others, obviously.) is yours like the picture? If so, which color did you order? |

Nini ~ you are the cutest!! So excited!! LOL... They are great hats! You can stuff them in your suitcase too and they come out just fine (at least I think it's the same type that will do that). Very cool! You have to get one (or two or three). I am sure I will need to get a couple more because, Dang, they have them in colors!! haaha...

For anyone still looking for a Maryjane hat....I found one that I love! I bought it here in So. Cal. at Dick's Sporting Goods, but they also sell it online at www.dickssportinggoods.com. It has a comfy elastic band inside to keep in from shifting or blowing off. It's referred to as a Lady Hagan Golf Hat at sells for $25.
