I figured that this belonged in the "Farm of My Own" instead of "Barnyard Buddies," because these guys are doing some 'real' work around here!

Originally, this open-bottomed 12'x12' pen was designed as a chicken tractor. Well, it's just too darn heavy to move without wheels, and with wheels, the bottom is just far enough off the ground for predators to sneak under -- definitely NOT a good thing.

Anyway - now, I'm using it as a "lamb tractor" for the two little sheep, Bonnie and Clyde, that I got from Aunt Jenny! These guys are GREAT!!! They are now mowing the lawn, but they've already completed the garden cleanup AND taken care of the very unlevel cornpatch remains.

XOXO, Libbie

Lucky you Libbie! I enjoyed having sheep, they are like big furry dogs but not so full of mischief. Good luck with them in "the sheep tractor"!

Well, Bonnie and Clyde have finished their job, finally, and have worked their way around the lawn for the final mowing and fertilizing of the season - well, there could be one more mow, but hopefully not! After seeing the final results, I would highly recommend this method to anyone willing to subject themselves to the weird looks you might get from the neighboring folks! One of the older farmers in town stopped by one day, and leaning out of his open pick-up window said (not so tactfully, but kindly, nonetheless), "What in the he** are you doing NOW?!?!" It was perfect - I just said, "Mowing the lawn," with the most steady face I could before I just burst out laughing, and so did he...

Libbie,
What a great idea! Your old neighbor sounds fun. I know some older farmers think new ideas like yours are weird, but hey, if we don't try new things we don't learn!! And at least he has a sense of humor!
