I picked up Mary Jane's book at the library and was absolutely floored that there were other women interested in canning, gardening, stitching, and chickens!! We bought our little 4 acres in 2001 and built our house in 2003. We're going nuts...actually we're growing nuts as in pecans. Good climate and soil for pecans. We have 7 trees so far and are adding more. DH and I still work full time to support our pecan grove addiction but gosh it's nice to know there are others out there with similar interests!! |

I grew up in northern Florida and I have fond memories of going to my grandmothers pecan tree and cracking them open and eating them right out of the shell. Now that I live up north, I have to teach all these yankees how to say pecan properly!! Amante |

Welcome, Florence! So glad that you found us...please tell us more about yourself and your "pick-ons, pea-cans, pec-ahns", what IS the right way to pronounce the name of this delicious nut?

Hi Florence! Welcome! My DH and I also both work full time to support our addiction(s) - the money pit that is our old farmhouse and a field of hundreds of daylilies. How many years will it take before you are in the pecan selling business? Sounds delicious!

Ah, my sister lived in Austin for a while and she gave us the best pecans. Can't believe that people just let them go to waste there since there's so many... but that's what she saw. Welcome! and looking forward to hearing more from you.

Hi Florence! I know just how you feel,I saw MaryJane's book advertised in a book flyer & I loved the cover. After I bought it I couldn't believe there were women out there who enjoyed the same things I do! Amazing!!
