Got our bigger girls beginning February 2013 (2 buff's were born Feb 10th / other 3 were born Feb 8th)and Marsala came to us Feb 24th at 1 week old.
2- Buff Orpingtons: Bernadette ('Bernie') and Penny 1- Black Astrolorp: Amy-Farrah-Fowler (yes we love 'Big Bang Theory') 2- Silver Laced Winged Wyandottes: Lacey and Katniss and our newest addition.... 1- Ameruacana: Marsala.
Our Precision Old Red Barn Coop (Hubby has to put it together). It holds up to 8 Hens, so I figured that was appropriate for my 6 hens. Didin't need a larger run, since they'll spend most time free ranging in the back yard. Let's hope this works.
Very nice!!!!!!!!! Keep us posted on the chicks. Marly

We are planning to order our first chickens this week. I am planning to get a couple of RI Reds and one or two Orpingtons. Should we order baby chicks or birds a bit older and nearer to laying age? I love the pics of all those little balls of fluff!
Oh! Have fun! I love new chicks! Can't wait for ours! And I always love hearing about the husbands that dutifully erect coops for us crazy chicken ladies! My hubby has another one to do soon. We lost our house in a fire last year, so the chickens got moved to our big livestock barn. Now that we have rebuilt, he gets to put up another new coop again! It will be nice seeing them range around our yard again! Keep us updated on yours!
