OK, I have a newer teardrop camper that I really like except you can't stand up in it so you have to put up a tent on the side. Also, it isn't vintage. So today I drove up into the frozen tundra of Wisconsin Rapids in 50 MPH wind and picked up my late 60's Play-Mor camper! She has new paint, tires and bearings. She just needs to be glamped up a bit. I guess the teardrop will be for sale this spring.

I like the light wood also but have decided to paint it! Probably a soft white. I want it to look cottagey.

Grace,
Are you referring to my tear drop? It will be for sale again and the price has dropped. I haven't advertised it yet. Waiting for a little thaw out. It is stored inside currently.

Hi Diane,
No I don't have Facebook. I have been trying to find different places locally to look for vintage trailers for sale. I feel like there is nothing out there in my area.
There is one locally on Craigslist. It's a 1965 12 foot Eljay. I will try and figure out how to post the link here. Since I am just starting to look, I don't really know what fair prices are. It's a bit overwhelming, and as I said there doesn't seem to be a lot for sale locally.
Thank you for the offer. If you have any suggestions or insight I would appreciate it greatly!
Hugs,

~Laurie

Thanks everyone, I am so excited! I ordered new foam for the dinette cushions and a new futon mattress for the bed. The old foam just has a stank to it that you can never get out. I pretty much have the interior all planned out in my head. I will be sewing new curtains and covering the cushions while the weather is cold. Come spring she will get all new interior paint and flooring. I even found a fellow Glamper that makes awnings at a reasonable price! It will be my little playhouse on wheels.
Laurie, go to the website www.tincantourist.com there are a lot of trailers for sale there. The first vintage trailer we purchased had too much water damage to be easily fixed so we found another one and used the first one for parts. Then on impulse my DH bought the new teardrop and I sold the other trailer and parts to a fellow Farmgirl Sister who lives near me. She and her DH fixed it all up and she goes glamping. I will be joining her in MI on Mother's Day along with 25 or more other vintage Glampers! MaryJane's new book has a lot of tips for finding a trailer. Also the website www.littlevintagetrailer.com has tips, pictures and some for sale.

Thanks Diane!
I did find that tincantoursit website while googling. Unfortunately they dont have anything available in my area right now, but I will continue to look around. And Yes I do go on littlevintagetrailer.com and drool over all of her great trailers too!
Eventually I will find something. I may be glamping in my tent again this year, but we will see.
Oh- Here is the link to the 1965 Eljay that is for sale near me...I would love to hear your input/thoughts:

Diane,,,
I never keep the old mattresses that come/came with my trailers...

In my Scotty I too bought a Futon mattress and then I went to Wally-World and bought one of those 'memory foam' toppers....

In My 'Farmgirl on the Loose' aka #3, I used two layers of thick egg crate foam and a 4" memory foam (2"dense foam plus 2" memory) and it works perfect... (total of 8" of foam mattress).
Because I had my hubby custom build the bed frame in #3 I had him make it a few inches small then a twin,,, when you have only 7' from one to end to the other inside, you have to cut out 'extras' that will take up space... lol!

The one thing I have learned with memory foam,, is it takes a bit to warm up... so when camping I use a flannel pad on top of the mattress...and then my bedding... You can sew 2 (thrift find) flannel sheets together like a ginormous pillow case...to put over the mattress (yes, I do this with the futon too).. for the summer... then when Glamping season is over I remove it, launder it along with the other bedding,,, and I don't put the bedding back on, only the flannel cover/case... to everything can air out for the Winter.
Yep, come Spring I go in there & do "Spring House Cleaning" in my wee trailers... but that kind of Spring Cleaning I enjoy ! lol!'
