honey hunk and i went to the perryville civil war battle re-enactment weekend .. (still have to send you some pics of that incredible event!) while passing through the quaint historic town of perryville .. i saw a booth at the town fair of POTTERY .. and in addition to primitive antiques .. i dooooooo love pottery .. so we made a stop!

i discovered CROSSWINDS POTTERY ... Handcrafted Stoneware by Cynthia Carr .. Cynthia is from Harrodsburg, Kentucky .. and you can contact her at: crosswindspottery@yahoo.com

I fell in love with her style of pottery .. and she is such a delightful artist and her passion for her art just shines through her!

PHOTO
this is a 'rainmaker' and 'rain catcher' bucket

in 'olden times' .. cynthia told me it was called a 'thumb' pot
it has holes in the bottom (much like a salt or pepper shaker .. only a little larger)
you fill the bucket (or let the rain do it for you!)
the 'rainmaker' will fill with water to the filled bucket water line.

PHOTO

you put your THUMB on the hole in top of the rainmaker
.. take it to a 'plant' and release your thumb
and VOILA .. a most charming way to water your house plants!

PHOTO

i love earthy 'brown tones' .. so everything we got on Saturday
were in those shades .. but cynthia creates other colors too!
she had a wonderful collection of BLUES!

PHOTO

i adored this little 'butter keeper' with a bright sun on top!

PHOTO

you pack REAL butter tightly into the top (left)
put some ice cold water in the pot (right)
and put the top back on .. keeps your butter fresh.
(i put it back in the fridge after the meal)

adorable 'batter bowl'
she has another style .. bigger with a higher handle .. both are wonderful ..
was hard to 'choose'!!
(might have to get t'other one this weekend when we go to BEREA
to the arts festival being held there this weekend!

PHOTO

and oh my .. isn't this a most charming 'oil lamp'!!!
mine is the one on the left .. cynthia says the wick lasts just
forever!

if you would love to have some beautiful pottery from

be sure to e-mail Cynthia at:
crosswindspottery@yahoo.com

(tell her "Frannie from Cabin Creek Farm sent me")
