My swap box from Bridgette included this amazing x-stitch picture. I am a cross-stitcher from way back and I love this! So precious that she took the time to hand stitch this for me. Thanks, Bridgette!

Ladies, please be considerate and polite toward the sister who so generously sent you a gift. We need to take into consideration the varying hobbies, interests, incomes, geographic areas and individual tastes that go into assembling a swap gift. Posting a terse thank you, then emailing your swap partner to criticize the items she sent you is rude, inconsiderate and certainly not within the values set out by the Farmgirl Sisterhood. We now have one sister who will never participate in another swap because her generosity was criticized rather than accepted with grace. Please, lets not do this to another "sister".

thank you tami
it is always the polite thing to do
and always thank your partner.
remember please follow the theme of the swap.
as that is important and has nothing to do with a dollar value.
its the love of the swap
so please thank you partner on the site.
if she has to contact you to see if you ever received your package
thats not right and you would want her to know your received hers package too.
so many put their all(be it a beautiful crossstitch or a handmade item that takes time effort and love) into a swap that they deserve a thank you.
I know its hard to be a Newbie and not sure what is the expectation but read the guidlelines thats the theme of all swaps....
but if you have questions contact the swap hostess. she alway give you
ideas or instruction about something you may not have tried before
or advise. but be considerate and only send something
you would like to get yourself.
Blessings

You are correct, Deborah. The key here is to be loving and polite. Everyone who makes the effort to assemble and ship a gift "deserves" a thank you - not just those who sent hand-made items. And please remember that jobs, family concerns, travel and many other factors may keep someone away from the forums for days at a time. That does't mean they are ungrateful, just busy.

As for your "expectations", I believe you did receive a gift that was considerate and that the sender would have been glad to receive. She certainly sent it in love and sisterhood. Your response was demeaning and not sent in love.

You owe this kind, generous woman, and any other sister who tried their best to participate in the spirit of sisterhood, a sincere apology.

Aww I am sorry to hear that. I try to make my swap partners enjoy their gift if I can. I do try my best to send them something I think they would like.
I hope I don't ever make anyone feel bad, I would feel absolutely horrible if I did.

I have learned that to have a good friend is the purest of all God's gifts, for it is a love that has no exchange of payment.

Connie,

Thank you so much for the St. Patty's goodies. I was so excited when I opened the (boxes) of all things green! I wish I could post a photo of all the goodies you sent me. Unfortunately my camera is on the blink and I can't. I was so happy when I looked into the boxes and saw all the sweet things you sent...there was Doublemint gum, a bag of Ghiradelli mint chocolates, lemon-lime koolaid, a pastel bottle of hand lotion, Shamrock garland, St. Patty's buttons, adhesive gems, lime Jello, green pencils, a box of Irish Breakfast tea, another bag of herbal tea, a beautiful ladies hankie, a dark green paisley bandana, green fabric and cloth squares, a small hat (that I am going to make into a refrigerator magnet):):):),another little hat with a clip, a box full of flower bulbs taken from your yard, and a beautiful St. Patty's card. You went way above and beyond for this swap! I will never forget your kindness and generosity.

Hugs and Blessings,

Judy

The woman who is hosting this was my swap partner and she did not appreciate that I sent her "green things" in my gift box. But I am noticing that many of you did the same thing and that some even chose to send fun things that weren't green - - - I was told that my green things were not "St. Patrick's" things. I have emailed debtea the host of this swap - - - I'm appalled at her attitude towards my gift to her. I have truly enjoyed being part of MJFarm and to complain or even begin to find fault with a gift given to you is not accepted in any way shape or form to me.

just sharing some photos of Ireland

May the lilt of lush laughter lighten ever road,
May the midst of Irish magic shorten every road.
May you taste the sweetest pleasures

And may all your friends remember
all the favors you are owed.

Lassies here are recipes for a great
St.Paddy dinner..if anyone has a good recipe share with us please...
every year my DS makes and amazing dinner for the family and the food is awesome.
hope you all enjoy..if you can copy this email me and I'll email you the recipes...

Traditional Irish Shepherd's Pie

Ingredients
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 lb ground beef or 1 lb lamb
1 large onions, finely diced
3 -4 large carrots, finely diced
1 cup frozen peas
3 -4 sprigs fresh thyme, finely chopped
2 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon butter
1 glass red wine
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 cup stock
1 large quantity mashed potatoes ( estimating 1L or 6 cups, fresh or leftover)
1 eggs, beaten
grated parmesan cheese (optional)
Directions
Pre-heat oven to 200C/400°F.
Saute carrots in the olive oil until starting to get tender.
Add in the onions and saute for a minute or two then add the meat.
Season with black pepper and thyme.
Cook until browned then drain fat.
Add the butter and peas.
Sprinkle with flour and stir through.
Add tomato paste, wine and Worcestershire sauce.
Let this reduce slightly then add the chicken stock. Allow to reduce down until you have a thick meaty gravy. Season to your taste.
Remove from heat. Grease an oven proof dish** (9x13 works for me, as does an oval baker) with butter and add the sauce.
Spoon or pipe the mashed potatoes over top. Brush with egg and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if using.
Bake for about 20 minutes or until the potato is nice and browned on top.
Serve as is or with some crusty bread to mop up that yummy sauce!

Corned Beef and Cabbage in Guinness
Ingredients
• 4 lbs flat cut corned beef brisket
• 1 (12 ounce) bottles Guinness draught ( make sure you use Guinness draught, not stout as it will turn it bitter!)
• 1 medium yellow onions, peeled and cut into wedges
• 3 garlic cloves, minced
• 1 bay leaves
• 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/8-1/4 teaspoon ground cloves ( to taste)
• 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
• 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
• 1 head cabbage, cut into wedges, rinsed and drained
• 6 medium white potatoes, peeled and quartered
• 1 -2 lb carrots, peeled and cut into 3-inch pieces
Directions
Rinse corned beef under cold water, and pat dry.
In a Dutch oven, or other large pot with a cover, brown corned beef well on all sides over high heat.
Pour Guinness over the meat, and add enough water to just cover the brisket.
Add the onion, garlic, bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, allspice and pepper to the pot.
Bring pot to a boil and skim off any foam.
Reduce heat to a simmer. Cover pot and simmer for 3 hours.
Add carrots, then potatoes and then the cabbage wedges to the pot.
Cover pot, and continue cooking until meat and vegetables are tender (about 20-30 minutes).
Remove meat and vegetables to warm serving platter/dishes, leaving the cooking liquid/sauce in the pot.
( make sure you use Guinness draught, not stout as it will turn it bitter!)
