Let's just say I'm frugal not cheap ;) So I was thrilled to find freecyle.org. So much so, that each time We Three C's moved states, I would freecyle everything that we were not taking with us, and start on freecyle first to replenish. I don't think there is a community not represented! Below is a photo of my gardening loot, all generously given through freecyle.org.

Have any of you ladies utilized this site?

yup!

I've gotten vintage school desk for my children (the kind they would use in school back in the 50's!).

seeds for my garden.

gifts for my sister (she collects owls, so any thing owl I pick up from freecycle, funny when she was graduating pre law school, just so happened some one was giving away a graduation owl! lol The local gift shop was charging like 25 dollars for the same one!

The funniest thing we ever got was a solid wood desk, get this...my DH has had a dresser since childhood that his parents found on the curbside. He brought it into our marriage-after all we're talking solid wood! Well, we were needing a pc desk, and some one was giving away one they found in their "new" home, from around the 1950's. We go to pick it up, and funny enough it was only blocks from my DH's childhood home, we go in...it was his dressers long lost brother! It matched his dresser exactly! Obviously had been a set at one time! So after 25 plus years desk and dresser (for like a teen child) were reunited! lol haha My DH uses his desk and loves it! lol haha We've had it for some years now.

Let's see....hmmmm, potty chairs, clothing-nursing clothes, pregnancy clothes, kids clothes-funny enough one thing I got was terribly cute, so cute my breastfeeding group asked if I made it, nope, but I decided to look and it's a gymboree! We don't shop there mind you-cause why would I when Freecycle exsist? lol But, gymboree is a very expensive nice quality children's brand! Let's see.....car seats...dishes-correl! Windows (to make garden boxes!), electric blanket, hmmm, I know much more, but that's off the top of my head. Pretty much I check my email daily for what's being offered.

The lady that I got the garden seeds from, had a super duper nice yard, all decked out from freecycle, even down to her round concrete picnic table, with the half circle matching benches! She lives in a upper scale neighborhood and her yard matches the neighborhood, yet she got every thing on Freecycle!

I got on there once but got sidetracked and didn't get back to it. Thanks for reminding me it is out there. I will check it out.

oh and sewing patterns, and coupons, and even a slicer! lol haha HUGE bag of legos for my kids. I know I have gotten so much it's hard to remember all of it, cause I use a lot of it daily and forget just don't think about this came from here, and that came from there....but Freecycle is ALWAYS my first option that I exhaust BEFORE buying.

lol I haven't been as fortunate as the woman who did her whole yard with free things. By and large it's just average things that I see and get. BUT, once in a while I hit the jack pot. There's one particular woman that is one of the groups mods for my area, and she lives in a small suburb real close to my town, and I think she gathers things from her whole town cause she list at least 20 things a day alone (and has done this daily for years now!) She lives in one of the suburbs that are known for having a bit more money. There's also a few other very generous people in some of the "nicer" neighborhoods that really give away nice things.

also to be quite honest, even though I personally find GREAT buys at the thrift shops around here, I know some people have gotten really upset with the mark up at some thrifts, so would rather give things directly and not have all that over head to help people who need it. It works for me! lol

Definitely a freecycle user. I have been able to pass along many things through this site.

O, a trouble's a ton or a trouble's an ounce,
Or a trouble is what you make it!
And it isn't the fact that you're hurt that counts,
But only--how did you take it?
