Howdy!

I live in Lone Oak, TX, just south of Greenville, TX. Are there any Farmgirls near here who might want to exchange ideas and chat? Is there already a chapter here?

I quilt (and other sewing), knit, crochet, trying to spin, travel (overseas, cruises, etc.), read (especially mysteries), love to go antiquing, and lots of other stuff. I'd like some help designing my planting areas: flowers, bushes, fruit trees. I also want to get chickens and/or ducks this year; hopefully the grasshoppers won't be as bad this coming spring/summer, but the chickens and ducks will help out and provide eggs at the same time. I need to fix up a coop for them.

Any takers?

Hi Linda, I live in Cash. I just signed up to Mary Jane's so I am new to all of this. It's a little overwhelming. I don't do Facebook or any of that social media stuff. I honestly don't know how I would have time.
I garden (although you would never know it looking at my garden right now). I can and put up ALOT of our food. I sew, needlepoint, cross-stich, make bread, enjoy cooking, reading, did I mention I love to garden!! I have chickens, need any roosters? how about eggs? I incubated about 40 eggs last year. If you would like you can come look at my hens and roosters and determine if you would like to have any baby muts. They are really beautiful, but just muts. I could incubate them for you and get you started really cheaply. I have several extra feeders and waterer you could use/have. I don't know if it is o.k. on these web sites for me to give you my phone number but my e-mail is sidebottrd@live.com. I don't mean to sound lonely, but I really need someone in my life to share the things I love. My husband helps, but he doesn't GET it.
Did you find a local chapter. I just started searching and no luck yet.

Hi Betty,
You are my first response!!
So does anyone in your family know of any chapters in East Texas?
Do you know how to start a chapter? There seems to be enough of us. Surely there are instructions somewhere online.
Just waiting for this weather to warn up some. I'll have my onion slips by next week and I think I will plant my peas this weekend. It is supposed to be beautiful. Hey, it's a start. By July, I will be so sick of produce, I swear I will never do this again. I will just go to Central Market of Whole Foods and buy it, after all, it probably would be cheaper.
I cannot email anyone directly since I don't have enough posts. Not sure why that matters, but o.k.
Talk to you later

Linda and Diane, it looks like you both live in Hunt county close to each other. I am further south in Polk County as are my sisters and daughter. We haven't formed a chapter but are in the process of talking about it when we get together. All of us are busy doing different things and already know we won't be planning to meet on set dates and times. We do share what we have accomplished by text or facebook.

I have a dairy herd and so that keeps me really busy in the spring with kiddings along with all the other farm duties.

I got involved with some of the swaps on here and am having fun with that and "meeting" others on here. That may help till you are with a chapter.

Howdy!

I'm not really that close, but I am in E. Tex and I do have a chapter that I started. We have a secret Facebook group and communicate through that. Usually, meetings are about once a month or every 6 weeks. Not everyone can come, of course, but for those of us who can make it, I think it's a lot of fun. The link to start an official chapter is here:

If anyone is ever up for an E. Texas get-together, it would be fun to have other Farm Girls out this way. I live on a small farm and it would be fun to meet you all!
