I spotted this in a book and thought... oh, how fun to make....

the skirt is made from a 'tree skirt'....
This is the Kitschy book that I spotted it in...

hey Diane, don't laugh,,, while at Hobby Lobby & Joanns today I actually looked at the various 'tree skirts' that I might be able to re-purpose into a skirt....bupkis... but I am Not done shopping! lol!
Oh and you are so right....a pair of cowgirl boots would make the skirt rock! :>)

Tree skirts aren't the same as they used to be. You almost have to make a tree skirt and then make the tree skirt into a skirt, in order to not look like the 'made in china' tree skirts in the stores these days. The one in that book is really cute!

What a cool idea!

I have a small tree skirt that my grandaughter (8 yrs old) loves!
I am going to make her a skirt out of it. She will love it!

My aunt's poodle skirt served as my grandmother's tree skirt for years! always one of my favorites and i wanted it as a skirt but she had a tiny waist!

Years ago my Mother made a Tree skirt out of deep red velvet and trimmed it in gold. My grand-daughter was 1st grade I think and she loved that skirt so great-gramma gave it to her and she wore it to school. MB
