Hi girls!

Oh my gosh - yesterday we had a big family celebration in honor of my husband's uncle who turned 86. The spread included the most wonderful homemade traditional Lebanese dishes made by all the aunts and cousins - it was sheer heaven! They also had a wonderful Walnut Hummus that was sent over as a treat from a local Lebanese restaurant as a gift. It was absolutely delicious. This is not a dish that Situ, my husband's grandmother, ever made, but the whole family would like to start including it on the menu as a new family tradition. :) Do any of you happen to have a family recipe for Walnut Hummus you'd be willing to share?

Oh - and if anyone has a recipe for homemade Syrian bread - the REAL bread that your Situ would've made - would you also please share that recipe? My husband's cousin's aunt showed me how to make it years ago, but, sadly, she passed away before sharing the recipe with anyone in the family (she was the Syrian bread maker and recipe keeper for the whole family!). The family now purchases it fresh from the Lebanese restaurant, but I sure would like to start making it at home, too. I do make it, and it's good, but the recipe I use is nothing like the aunt's, you know? There is just nothing like the old family recipes!

Thanks so much for your help!

Hugs -

Nini

I have had walnut hummus & from what I can remember, it was similar to regular hummus, with probably 1 part walnuts to 2-3 parts garbanzos, & I think it has orange juice or orange rind??
Sorry no exact measurements, but I am sure there are recipes online.
Delicious, let me know if you nail a recipe

I will, Lisa - thank you! I actually did a quick search online, but didn't see one that looked like the walnut hummus we had yesterday... I'll keep searching and keep you posted! :)

I make hummus, but the walnuts are optional, so there isn't much in it. I think the recipe is on my "pioneer" blog.
